Default Lanai not draining

We recently had our lanai painted and now the rain doesn't drain out under the aluminum frame. We have loosened the screws and run a putty knife under the frame but the paint has built up a slight edge. Any suggestions?

I agree. Call the painter first and have him fix it. If you are not satisfied with the outcome, you might try BJ's drain caps. Many people on here have recommended them. Use this link and scroll to the right to see them.

We just drilled some holes on an angle in the cement and never have water sitting anymore and no problems.

Your concrete floor in the lanai has expansion joints cut in it . Some of the joints will run underneath the aluminum frame to the outside. If they are not clogged they will let the water drain out. It sounds like the paint or what ever was used to finish your floor has filled up those expansion joints. You need something to clear the joints. My lanai was stained , the joints are not clogged or filled with dirt. I take a hose to wash it down . It drains thru the expansion joints.

We also put in a river rock floor and no leaks since. Did not put it in to stop the leaks and puddles in the lanai but extremely pleased with the results! If interested, pm me and I will give you the company we used; extremely pleased with the work.
