Cool Villager needs an eye doctor badly

Are you a retired eye doctor? I am a Villager that does not have insurance or the means to pay.

I am 50 years old and experiencing total vision loss in my right eye.

Any help or ideas would be appreciated.

Sudden vision loss is an emergency. There are so many things that can happen to the eye, especially as we age.

It could be a detaching retina. If it is, time is of the essence. Detached retinas can often be repaired if caught in time. Sometimes the first symptom of a detaching retina is what looks like flashing lights or a shower of sparks. Sometimes it looks like a curtain is moving across the eye.

A friend of mine had a detached retina. The symptoms for him were like the eye suddenly filled with something that he could not see through. He tried to ignore the symptoms at first, but he got to the doctor in time. His was repaired.

Of course, I have no way of knowing if this is what is happening to you, and I am not a doctor or a medical professional of any kind, but I do know that you must get help.

Please see a doctor. I don't know if you have tried to see one but have not been able to get in. I am not in The Villages so I do not know about doctors there. But if I were in your situation and had not been able to see an eye doctor, I would go to an emergency room where they should get you connected with a specialist. Please do not put off getting the medical attention you need. You must act, in spite of your concern over not having insurance. I am so sorry this is happening to you. Sudden vision loss is an emergency. I hope things turn out well for you. Take care.

I absolutely agree with everything Boomer said. I am not a medical professional either but your symptom could be related to the central nervous system.

Please seek help now.

Exclamation Eye Doctor

FYI: Our son is a eye doctor in Ocoee. He is at the Florida Eye Clinic Health Center. His name is Jay Mattheis. The phone number is # 407-296-1971.
But, yes you do need to get to a MD. BJ
