Default Through the grapevine

I am hearing this second hand.....there was a home break in on Twisted Oak Which runs parallel to Bonifay. They broke through the front door when residence were not home. It was the 6-7th house on the left that backs up to Bonifay parking lot. No word on what was taken. I'm only the messenger and reporting what a friend told me who lives up that way. May be worth it to get an alarm system.

I really don't believe we should all go out and get a security system because of a "possible" break in.....it is an isolated incident that does not warrant 100,000++ changing how they live.

I really don't believe we should all go out and get a security system because of a first hand, real break in.......it is an isolated incident that does not warrant 100,000++ changing how they live.

Default Security system is the best way to protect your home

I'll bet the home owners wished they had had a security system. There was another break in a street over from that one with in the past 6 months and those home owners got a security system after the break in. It's kinda like your house burning down and then asking for fire insurance.

I feel safe without an alarm system, but that's me. Maybe if I come home to an empty house, I would feel differently. Having your house invaded is a scary feeling. I have known of two instances, (not in TV), where people felt violated when a break-in occurred and stuff was taken

That's why insurance is a necessary evil.

Thanks for posting this info.

Once again I have to agree with the post................. and no need for hysteria.

Unless things change, this is a very safe place to live. We bring with us certain fears and habits and if we feel security systems are important than go for it.

I like the hidden cameras.

Crooks are not getting away with as much these days because big brother has them in focus.

I hope that the local police will be as effective at catching this perp as they have been in the past. We all need to keep our own eyes and ears open and if we see something odd...say something.

We are mostly not employed and some are usually home on a street. If we see someone who looks outa place, i.e. doesn't have the right look...or WHO is just not a villager messing around, than call the police.

Last week, in Pennecamp which is Jacaranda Island consisting of Markridge Loop, Abordale, Glenmont and Altamont Villas, the house across from us had their front door open. They have one of those screen doors that pull across and it is pretty invisible from the street when it is in place. The owner was in the backyard with his dog. A man got out of a vehicle and started up towards the front door and when the owner came around and asked if he could help him he said he was selling seafood out of his truck. The homeowner said he wasn't interested. The next day, while we were playing cards, several neighbors said he never rang any of our bells. We told them to call community watch with a description of the vehicle.

I don't think all 40,000 whatever homes will go out and get an alarm system ... however, in terms of risk reduction, those who are located in a more risky location within TV may want to think about it.

I also think the OP correctly makes the point.

Where would a riskier location be in TV? I don't consider my location risky but I still have an alarm system with cameras and all. I think once your privacy has been violated you never feel the same. I want to prevent that from happening. I suppose a good guard dog would serve the same purpose.

In my neighborhood, we all watch the street, especially when people are on trips or are snowbirds. Seems to work well. IMHO, however, the call should be to the sheriff, not community watch.

I appreciate you sharing the information. The OP said "May be worth it to get a security system". She didn't say "OMG! Every person in TV needs to get a security system!!!!". Common sense would tell people if they have had a few break-ins in the same vicinity, it may be worth looking into a security system. Why misinterpret then attack the OP? She is just helping.
