Ukraine's Ancient Hatreds | The National Interest

And many never thought this could happen again, in areas which have suffered with wars, but the difference is the historical indoctrination of history of the past injustices as the goal, instead of moving forward and realizing those transgressions of the past can be let go and move forward with a better today.

there are many similarities to religion as well. . .

watch out for taiwan next

We cannot allow China to take over Taiwan. The world chip business under Chinese control would be nothing other than a disaster.

Foolish that we have lost the capacity to make our own chips.

The problem is that politics can change by individual as there are less than 100 sovereign leaders who can change the world, and that's a tiny fraction of the world's population.

And since that is where the power and the money is, that is where the sociopaths and psychopaths go to get some. . .

the world's political leaders move back and forth between competitive games and cooperative games, in economic terms. Both China and Russia want to relive the past glories of past history, without regards to the pain inflicted on others. . its the downside of worshipping the past and carrying the grudges along as one can never advance the world. .

Some wonder why we should care about Ukraine, well, let's remember when Hitler took over Poland, and other counties and no one wanted us to get involved. If Germany didn't declare war on us (which got us into the war) he might have seceded in keeping Europe. Plus Ukraine is a democracy and we need to protect ANY country that may lose it (including our own).

Totally agree. Ukraine may not be in NATO, but neither was Afghanistan. We need to help Ukraine with a lot more force than what we have done so far to keep them a sovereign nation. Can someone please explain why certain news stations are pro-Putin? This is beyond disgusting and un-American.

Because they're not?

The wonderful benefit of twitter is that anyone in the world can create an account and post. There are alot of wonderful individuals around the world on twitter who I read. Here is a political analyst from Ukranian living in Australia, who has a pretty interesting tweet thread about Putin and what he may have thought or interpreted about Ukraine, which may or may not be correct, but I tend to learn from individuals who have lived the history, versus those that repeat words they hear on paid media.

now the world is filled with whackos and sycophants of every color and flavor. Yes, you have to be very selective on twitter, but its a worldwide source of information, if curated correctly.

There is also people I follow who are of eastern european descent who criticize the US, and they have interesting points as well. I am not recommending those because most people are nationalistic and prefer confirmation bias. But he does criticize the US for doing the same thing using democracy as the excuse. . . so there are always two sides to every conflict, and its just fascinating to understand the few who have the ability to destroy so much of what humanity has built.

Very interesting. Putin was expecting and counting on a very easy war. He might not survive what he has gotten. Thanks for sharing.
