Default Should you rent or buy a home in retirement?

Deciding whether to rent or buy a home was never an easy question for my parents. Now age 83 and 84, they always treated homeownership as sacrosanct. Not only was owning their home a symbol of success, but it provided a haven that offered security and comfort.

We have decided to rent. Sold our home 7 years ago and placed that money into an investment account. Have been rving for the past 7 years. Now in The Villages and decided at our ages it made no sense for us to buy again. We do not need to build equity nor do we need the hassle of all it takes to maintain a home. We are renting a nice home all inclusive. No worries. We will now use the home equity for other more exciting adventures than lawn maintenance, utility bills, insurance, taxes, etc. etc.
