Default "Hand scooped ice cream"- hmm

So, under the category of "things that make you say hmmm" (forgive the ancient Arsenio Hall bit reference); I'm sitting in line at a drive through and see a poster boasting "hand scooped ice cream". Does ice cream taste better, or are the qualities of the ice cream somehow better preserved when the ice cream is scooped out by hand? What are the alternatives to scooping ice cream by hand? Are there ice cream scooping robots out there or unknown patented devices out there that provide other means for scooping the ice cream, yet they somehow rob the ice cream of its taste or texture?

In seriousness, I assume this was just the best way someone could come up with to describe the opposite of soft serve ice cream that is extruded through a machine. Yet it does seem to me like an odd way of making ice cream seem even better, if that's even possible.

Along the same lines, I've seen restaurants brag about "hand breaded chicken tenders". Okay - and that makes them better how?

Hand scooped is for hard ice cream (my preference) and soft serve is usually done by machine (ok, I'm also a fan of Dairy Queen). Have no idea on the chicken thing.

Not about ice cream, but my favorite boast is when a product is advertised as having "German engineering". The world's top rated engineering school is in China, and Germany doesn't even have a school in the top 75.

Sounds like scooping by hand could be unsanitary!

"Artisan" stuff. The word used to have actual significance, until every Kraft, P&G, and Wendy's fast food started using it. Now it means "we want to charge extra for something, and here's how we'll do it!"

If that is true, can you explain why Chinese products still seem to have a bad reputation for inferior quality?

Tightly held...institutional prejudices?

Just like the "bad reputation" of Japaneses products lingered long after their quality, with products from companies such as Toyota/Honda/Etc...FAR surpassed American made automobiles.

FACTS do matter.

P.S. - I'm guessing that "hand-scooped" is simply a way they are using to differentiate hard ice cream...versus "soft-serve."

What part of the Chicken does a McNugget come from?

I hardly ever ate Ice Cream during my life but can't get enough nowadays. Even better, A Concrete Mixer from Culvers. My car knows the way there on its own. It is Custard? Don't know what its made of, not gonna Google it, just gonna love it plus what a nice ride to go get it. Yum.
