Default Remembering

I noticed the S&H Green Stamps. My fellow long-ago St. Louisans should remember our local equivalent -- Eagle Stamps. My mother would have dozens of books filled before cashing them in.

And I was the one who had to paste them in for her; I can still taste that glue!

I was in love with the dark haired girl with the light colored streak in the center of the bandstand pic. And Pineapple Princess Annette too.

Oh Great Fumar!

What a memory feast! The Mobil station looks just like the one where I worked for a few weeks in the summer of '53. Not where I wanted to work, not where I felt comfortable!

cybr: You will be amused that, when I was cleaning out my study/den in St. Louis, getting ready to come here four years ago, I uncovered an Eagle Stamps booklet, half full of stamps, down behind some bookshelves. Even then, I couldn't remember what we might have done with the others!

Default The Woolworth's Menu

... brought such a wave of nostalgia for a grilled cheese (on white bread, of course)!

But the Marshmallow Fluff... do all of you from areas outside of the northeast have Fluff? I have had Midwestern friends tell me it wasn't anything they had ever heard of.

It is the secret ingredient in my whoopie pie filling ...

Hey Kate,

This Midwestern girl knew her way around a jar of Marshmallow Fluff. Either with a spoon or with my finger if my mom was not looking.

Ahhhh Tony my friend - nothing at all. A whoopie pie is delectable chocolate and vanilla cream yum yum. They were always a big part of our summer celebrations.

Think of a REALLY REALLY REALLY good devil dog (assuming you have devil dogs up there).

Boomer, so glad you are a Fluff fan.

T & B - Let me know when you are in TV and I'll whip up a batch of whoopie pies - come wearing pants one size too large.
