Actually, my post was my "comment/reply" to previous posts. I don't know DiCaprio. Birthday wishes? OK, but I doubt he will see them here. Still, nice gesture if you're a fan. Never read Killers of the Flower Moon, so I'm not hyped up about that.
I had just checked in, for fun, to see what was going on. Not much for me to get excited over, but as long as I was here and waiting for my first cup of coffee to kick in, I thought I would at least add one more number to the count along with NOTHING. I didn't mean to disrupt the feng shui.

I think you have to know something about the history of the NOTHING thread(s). Kind of hard to go into with some limitations on what we can talk about on Talk of the Villages.

I have a thing about birthdays. I have been doing these birthday call outs in many places since 2002 or so. I recall getting thrown off of AOL for instance a few times. This was before we moved to the Villages in 2005 from Palm Harbor, Florida. Before that, we were in Rohnert Park, CA just across a golf course fairway from what at that time was the Red Lion Inn where movie production trailers would often be parked while they were filming movies in Sonoma, Marin, Napa and other Northern CA counties. Back then though I was primarily keeping the mailmen and women very busy.

Been checking on this thread since it started and never figured it to be much more than a place for pleasantries and simple expression of good will. Acknowledgement of one another. I haven't read every post, just most of them.
As for birthdays, I am the opposite. As a VERY nearsighted child, I was very shy and had very low self-esteem. I was in 2nd grade before anyone realized I wasn't "slow", just blind. I hated anything that focused attention on me. Mostly, I hated my birthday. Still do. I think I am the only birthday ignorer in the world. My wife loves hers. Always make a fuss over her birthday.

Sorry to hear that. My mother had the flu when I was in her womb and I came out with a lot of developmental problems. A great English high school teacher saw something in me and groomed me by challenging me to read books like Anna Karenina. A lot of this has to do with that teacher and my relationship with her and her family over the years as well as with a man named Mills Lane. Her family did give me a small Memorial Scholarship in the name of her then recently lost daughter. They had four daughters. Some of them have been in the news but back in Northern CA and Northern NV. I grew up from age 11 to 24 or so in Reno, Nevada. And not for NOTHING. We moved from the Milwaukee area to Reno, Nevada when I was about 11.
