We had a friend up north who did that and we traveled with him everywhere. He had to stop when his wife got cancer and though she has been cured it devastated her body and left her very weak. I do not like to plan I like to NOTHING but just show up.

Well, I think that's great. I was going to ask who the detail person was. I suspected it might be you. Between my husband and I, it's me and I don't really love doing it. When I go on trips with my girlfriends, same thing, it's me. For me, being in that position takes a lot of the fun out of it. One time I went on a business trip to Boston and ended up running into an old co-worker. We did a lot of sightseeing together in our downtime and he handled everything. I loved it and ended up having a great time. Prior to that, when we worked at the same place, we were assigned to an extensive long term project together. Basically I just ended up being his side kick. He took over and planned everything out so well I just followed his lead. He is NOTHING but a planner.

You'll never guess what his name is. Ken - lol.

That's why Mrs. K. and I get along so well. I used to ask her if there was anything she wanted to do on a trip. It was always "Whatever you plan is fine". The only detail she wants is what days she needs to request off work.

When we go to Disney World she'll submit some requests on where we eat dinner. Other than that she wants NOTHING to do with the planning.

You said it so well.......I'll ditto that NOTHING. That's exactly how I would like to travel, especially at this stage of the game.

I enjoy the planning almost as much as the trip itself. Plus I have NOTHING but way more free time on my hands than Mrs. K. does. She hasn't figured out how to work smarter not harder yet.. lol

Funny you should mention that. The daughter of a friend of mine ended up starting a business on the side doing NOTHING but that. She's not a travel agent, but she would go on these really cool trips and people would want her to duplicate the trip for them. So she makes all the arrangements and provides them with an itinerary and they pay her a fee for her services.

We NOTHING but switched that nasty four-letter word thing that you all go to every day to the Doctors which we go to frequently. Tomorrow is going to be a Doctor Soufle. If we survive tomorrow it will be a miracle. We are in good hands. We have our faith. I want to travel also inside a 15 mile by 15-mile box and that's it, with an occasional trip to Jersey and don't forget Cuba.

Where is the 15 X 15-mile box? And no K man it's not the one the kids showed up in! LOL

That's exactly how my friend's daughter felt when she started her business. It's not work to her, it's fun.

And Mrs K doesn't have to worry about figuring out NOTHING. She's got the best end of a good deal in my book. I'd rather work and have someone plan my fun. It would make work all that much sweeter to me knowing what it was going toward and that I didn't have to even think about it, just do it.

I don't think I'd want the pressure of ensuring that someone has a good trip. I don't mind helping friends out but once you start getting paid for it, it becomes a pressure for me. I would hate if a friend didn't have a great time but customer service is an obsession with me. That's NOTHING I want to deal with in retirement..

Ok, NOTHING but ice cream. I'd say pizza but we'd never find a good enough one in TV as repayment. I mean just check out all the threads about it - lol
