All kidding aside, there is only one real solution to this problem, and I live by it. I learned this secret from a close friend, and I hope he won't mind if I give up the secret. I only buy two types of socks, black socks for work; white peds for my golf shoes or running shoes (or in my case, walking shoes). The black socks are all identical; the white peds are all identical. If I lose one in the dryer, so what? I have dozens of matches. If I come up short and have an unmatched sock, I put it aside and sooner or later, the numbers will add up again. Now that the cat is out of the bag, I'm worried that the goat will now come after something else . . . .
