Kitty, I'd like to know how hungry someone had to be to discover the "cabbage" in the palm is edible? It looks like a lot of work.

Seriously, I'd love to try it, can you cook the green part like any other greens? The heart of palm part I think we have all had already.

The leaves should be boiled and drained three times to purge the toxins then cooked in bacon fat or lard with onions or eggs. It tastes like spinach.

you know you are in Florida if it looks like the car in front of you has no driver.....or you are in the passing lane and it looks like the car in front of you holding up all the traffic has no driver.

Florida temperature descriptions.
Over 95 = Hot,
90-95 = Warm,
80-89 = Comfortable,
70-79 = Cool,
60-69 = Chilly,
Under 60 = Freezing

Jenny had a coupon for Hungry Howies so I reluctantly went. I was really expecting something terrible. I was pleasantly surprised. The pizza is the best I've had in Florida.

The place is old and run down. I wouldn't say filthy, but it could be spruced up a bit.

Yup I have had it. Pizza may be good but the place was filthy filthy filthy. Never ever going back.

They moved to a new location in a strip mall nearby. We use to go as a group of male coaches to the orginal location. I wouldn't take my family either. It was seedy and no bathroom for the public. You waited outside sometimes for an hour. It was well worth it. And maybe it was the inspiration for the SNL skit. I asked for a salad my first time and the waiter said, no salad just pizza and soda.

Thank you.

I would really like to see a restaurant that focuses on local foods instead another one trying to be New York City pizza.

[me too]

I still have not gone to The Cottilion Southern Cafe but it is on my to-do list. click here
101 N Main St
Wildwood, FL 34785

I have read many excellent reviews and it sounds like this might be what you are looking for:

"As a 9th generation Floridian, Miz Kathi’s southern roots go way back. Many of her authentic dishes are personal family recipes handed down through generations and passed on to Miz Kathi by her mother and grandmother.

The southern flavor is apparent everywhere you look and in everything you taste. The restaurant’s decor is classic southern vintage: covered in lace, adorned with antiques and spangled in classic southern style. And the FOOD! Miz Kathi’s food and desserts have won the accolades of customers and critics alike, earning another 5-Star Rating from TripAdvisor for 2014 and an impressive 4.5 stars on Yelp."
