So, all you folks that don't have a problem paying for estimates, how much do you tip the estimator? Asking for a friend.

Am I the only one who was told this, or have others received stupid quotes to get an estimate. Can't stop shaking my head over this. :ohdear: :ohdear: :ohdear: :ohdear: :ohdear: :ohdear: :ohdear: :ohdear:

Many, many years ago while in the organ business, there the top notch organ company was Aeolian-Skinner and truly were the leader in the industry. I know for a fact churches would have them submit a quote only to use it against a competitor, showing the organ committee the 'better' price of the so called competitor....consequently Aeolian-Skinner charged for a quote, but the fee was put towards the purchase of one of their instruments and in todays market especially with high costs of labor and material (Ugh, just putting gasoline/diesel in the trucks) I sort of can't blame a company....but like so many other suggestions place here.....move on...get another company!

OK everyone entitled to their opinions. But it’s tiresome to see our “experts” here give their 2 cents and in some ways chastise an OP as some did in this post.

We all get a little upset at times and need a "smack" to get us out of crazy mode. Try thinking of it as tough love provided by those who care enough to get involved.

They usually bring a sandwich or two thanking us for the privilege of giving us the estimate.

In all seriousness bad enough seeing tip jars at places where you go to pick up food and they do not serve you not going to pay for estimates.

However if the estimate was by a landscape architect that would be another story.

The guy is wrong but do you have to resort to name calling?

Asked a friend. He said "no tip".

I'm talking about complaining about a post. If you want the powers that be to see the complaint, you have to use the "report post" function...

I do not tattle unless the post would have been incredibly over the top. In two years have only seen two like that and it was taken down very quickly.

Landscape Estimate

Their are two ways to look at this. 1. Time is money. a. Gas is expensive.
2. I have worked for several landscape operations as a designer and also I owned one for several years. Did they offer to give you a drawing or sketch. Do they have a reputation of quality. (after all you get what you pay for) Did they say they would back the cost of estimate in the bill for landscaping done. I had landscaping performed for me here n the Villages. I expected the landscapers to charge me for drawings. Well they didn't and I got what I paid for. A very poor design which looked like all the other work done in this area. I actually designed my own landscape and had a contractor give me a price on it. There is no way I would not agree to any landscape company doing work for me with out knowing exactly what I was getting and what It would look like before I contracted work from them including size of plants, types of plants, soil additives and amount of mulch or gravel, Oh, as a side note gravel may be easy to maintain the first 5 or 6 years but long term it gets filled with soil and weeds love it. It also is detrimental to plants. There's my two cents. You can take what you want and leave the rest.

No, you just complain about it here. Which is pointless...

And those posts that were taken down? Most likely due to someone reporting them...
