Make sure your outside faucets are not open. They need to be shut at the faucet, not at the end of the hose.

True in that you don't need an expensive $100.00 an hour plumber for this job. An adjustable crescent wrench and a bucket is all you need. A kit at Wallymart is under $20.00.

Strange noise from toilet

I just fixed mine for zero dollars. The waterline off the fill valve to the down tube was becoming loose, (this was evident once I lifted the toilet tank lid) I pushed it back on. I thought the fill valve was my problem, I bought one at Home Depot for six dollars but returned it to get my money back. Check out a YouTube video to identify the parts in a toilet tank.

Hi, If you look inside your toilet's tank, you may see one of two types of valves. The older style is a float on a long arm that rises as the water fills the tank. As it does so, it slowly shuts off the water, this slow method may cause the high-pitched squeal you hear. The other method of shutting off the water is newer and is a small, upright tower with a float that moves up and down the tower. Again, as the float rises it shuts off the water. Which ever type of valve you have, you may have to replace it to correct the problem. If you do not wish, or feel comfortable doing this yourself, a plumber or even a decent handyman should be able to do the job for you.

It is a small rubber gasket in the top of the refill assembly. You can get them at Lowes or Home Depot. You do NOT need to replace the valve or the assembly or the "guts". It is relatively easy to replace, the hard part is getting the top of the refill assembly off to access the gasket (be sure to shut off the water supply valve first). Um, call a plumber

The gasket in the valve of the ballcock is getting old and vibrating. Costs more to repair the ballcock than to replace it. Probably about $20.00 at the local hardware store.

Call a plumber.

The toilet in my Bedroom gives like a pumping sound after it is flushed. It makes enough noise that it wakes the other one up. Do you think it is the same thing.

I watched the video. In my opinion, it's easier and better to replace the fill valve assembly. They cost 10 dollars at Home Depot. And, it comes with a new washer and plastic nut at the bottom of the tank. If that connection fails, you have a serious leak.

It sounds like you have air in the water lines......

I replaced the seal on my Kohler fill valve last week. It cost less than $4. It was very quick and easy but did not solve the noise issue. BTW, replacing the fill valve would be $18. That’s what I’ll do in the future. Quick and easy is not always the best approach.

Sounds like a mouse crawled in there....?
