Thumbs up Aphids and gardens. Careful what dish soap you use.

How to Use Household Dish Soap to Control Aphids | Home Guides | SF Gate

We were talking about this a few days ago and thought this should go up on Talk of the Villages.

Read the back of the dish soap. Doesn't say, "Kills insects".

Interesting books on the subject were published in quantity by Jerry Baker.
The article cautions against dish soaps with additives. A solution is to use baby shampoo.
Baker suggests, mouthwash as a fungicide, beer, Epsom salts
for magnesium and sulpher, vinegar will kill weeds oh and your grass and plants as well.
It is amusing but in most cases is there any saving? For aphids you can purchase insecticidal soap and or the OLD STANDBY spray oil.

With aphids, ants are usually 'farming' the aphids. Take care of the ants 1st or the dead aphids are quickly replaced or moved to a new host plant.
