Default Bagworms

Has anyone had bagworms to deal with this fall? We found them on our holly bush when we came in Oct. and even after we took out the bush, we have found them hanging under the eaves over the garage which is above where the holly bush was. If anyone can let me know how they handled them that would be great. The pest control companies will spray but won't remove them and some of the companies haven't heard of them. Thanks for any info

The larvae make sacs and hang on the branches of the trees after they eat some of the leaves. They look like dead leaves and are really hard to pull off. They stick on the eaves and have to be pulled off. They won't come off with the hose or even hitting them with the broom. They really look like part of the plant, but like a dead leaf. My husband put them in the big leaf bags in the garage and the next day, he found some had wiggled out and were on the floor of the garage. Apparently they will drown in a pail of water.

I was just wondering if there was any infestation or if this was a single incident. We have sprayed the ground under the eaves, but don't really know where they came from. There doesn't seem to be any sign of them in the neighbourhood as far as we can tell.

did not know that you could have them down here; had them up north, phila area. best way to get rid of them is to cut them off; or use BT when they are active. most pesticides will not penetrate the sacs. and they usually love everreens, particularly junipers and short needed spruce and pine.

Used to have a big problem with them in Virginia, went to a plant store, man said to spray the bushes beforehand with "Seven" that you can find in Lowe's and Home Depot. 1 good spraying will last for several years. They will destroy a plant.
I noticed the next year after spraying never saw them again.

Best thing to do is pull them off whatever they are on and step on them. Sometimes spraying is not effective enough. Dont just put them in trash they will find other places to go.
