Need to trim back palm leaves overhanging our birdcage. Will the pole chainsaw handle this (powerfull enough) or will the palm branch be too flexible making it difficult?

A pole chainsaw will work. Just be careful the cuttings don’t fall on your birdcage screening or it could tear the screen. And even more important, don’t let the trimmings fall on you.

I have a Barnel B88T Telescoping Lopper that works great on my palm trees, but if you already have the pole saw or chainsaw, those will work too.

Depends on how tall the palms are? I find the bar on pole saws 8” are too short due to angle reaching up on older tall palms. They work great if they will reach the right angle. Just be careful and not kick up palm and especially careful on palm seed pods, releasing 30 pound harpoon 25 plus feet up and when they hit the ground a big thud! They are widow makers. I use telescoping pruner with double tooth blade. Lot easier to get in tight spaces.
