Yesterday Deans treated our lawn for weeds and also for Sod Web Worms (Army worms) which have been a problem.

About 15 minutes after they finished, we had a pretty heavy, albeit short, shower.

Is the rain after this treatment going to neutralize the treatment ?

I asked the tech and he said no....but just seems as if it has to !

Anyone have information to share

It was liquid by the way

It should not completely neutralize chemical but it will dilute effect.

It IS a sod web worm !!! That is a certainity. It is also called an Army worm, but more often Sod web worm.

That has been established....just was concerned about the treatments effectiviness after a rain !

As was said, it will probably be diluted but enough should go into the ground to have some effect. It frequently takes more than one application to get rid of Army worms. (If you see white moths in your grass, you have the worms.)

VERY ugly. This is not our first treatment. We thought they had gone and then began to see the tell tale moths and found the worms once again.

Just was in doubt of the technician who said rain would not deter from the spraying. Hate to doubt a professional but as he completed the spraying the clouds over head were very ominious. But he said no problem

I'm surprised once again that people ask questions on this site looking for answers to questions from people who are not experts in any given area.

You make me feel as if I should apologize for my question, so I will.

I must point out that I never expected an expert opinion and asked not for one, but rather asked the question of folks who live here and have experienced a lot of the same.

I am thinking and basically will not type what I am thinking but please accept my apologies for being so...whatever !

Actually, Shankerman is forgetting that out of a population of over 100,000 plus the readership of TOTV non Villagers, there is almost certainly an expert or two on every subject you can think of, including brain surgery, global warfare, chemistry, lawncare, water treatment, Forbes 500 retired CEOs. Your question was most valid.

Monday morning call deans office, the staff is very nice. Ask your question. And I would ask how many treatments does it usually take to stop your infestation. They will be able to answer your question and will not make you feel stupid..

Last time my lawn was treated - routine maint - I was asked to water a little that night if we did not get any rain in the afternoon so the chemicals would go into the ground.

I asked the exact question of our lawn people for the same problem. They told me the spray was a contact spray so when it came in contact with the pests, they would be affected. The rain was not supposed to make a major difference in effectiveness. And, ask all the questions you want - most of us are reasonable and polite!

The experts are UF trained. If interested, google UF ifas extension. Experts are always there, lucky us.
