I haven’t heard much about this system, and just wondering if anyone has this unit, and whether they would recommend it.

I had it when we lived in South Florida. Would highly recommend it. I want to get it done here

An inline filter is essential in Citrus Grove . You won't believe how much green scum it captures before it makes its way to the individual heads.
Make sure you understand exactly where and in what orientation they are going to install it. Mine is paralell to and fairly tight to the house. I have seen some installed in a less eye friendly manner.

Who/what company installed yours?

Fertigator

It's more like every 3-6 months for me. There's a valve on the bottom that makes it easy.

Highly recommended for this upgrade. Best prices.

I do mine once a month.

Could someone please tell me what the cost of a filter is?

With SPRAY heads, the filter (in the head) ALSO allows volume/distance adjustments.
ALSO, the bulk of the filtered material will flow to the last head in the line. Any irrigation tech that says "throw it out" probably told you your rain gauge doesn't do anything either and you should disconnect it. Disconnect that irrigation tech and find one with a brain.

YES inline filters work great, there are LOTS. The flushable in a 5 micron should be fine. Get the black one NOT the CLEAR, also use gray irrigation pipe above ground as white pipe allows sunlight to grow algae inside, and also DEGRADES in the sunlight and within a year or so will break VERY easy.

The issue with inline filters, is there is NO CHLORINE in the (irrigation)water, so downstream (of the filter) water in the pipe will also grow stuff to clog your heads.

The REAL FIX.... take off the head at the end of each zone when you are doing your cleaning (once a year at least) and FLUSH THOSE LINES. Or make sure the tech does it. The cleaning will last a lot longer.

NEW HOUSES, you likely have sand or debris in those lines because installation crews may not flush those lines when they are done, as they should have, and as your maintenance irrigation guy should.
