Default Irrigation System Problem

Recently my system started watering on Sunday at 4PM. I never set it to water on Sunday. I went into the controller box and pushed the negative button for all days on both system A, B, and C. Yesterday it started watering again. I can't figure out whats going on. The only thing I can think of is to replace the battery. Another problem - yesterday a guy walking his dog told me I had a bad leak. After I had turned off the sprinklers it eventually stopped. I had contacted the water company and they said that I probably had a sprinkler head that was damaged. In any case I'm going to replace the battery and have someone check my sprinkler head.

Probably had power surge from the storm last week and screwed up your setting if your lucky. Try to reprogram it. Sometimes th top part that screws on pops off especially if it's close to curb where it gets ran over. If you see top half popped off, just try to screw it back on. The sprinkler heads are usually pretty easy to fix, They connect about 6" deep. About 2 to 4 bucks at lowes or Home Depot.

If you have a GOOD lawn mowing company, they will address this problem free of charge. Mine has taken care of these things for years as part of my lawn service that I pay $50 a month for.

If the sprinkler head is at a lower grade than the zone valve, it may appear you have a leak after it shuts off.
Water will continue to flow out until the pipes drain out at the lowest sprinkler head.

You might have to on times set.
A pipe might be broken. The pipe should be close to the surface. Dig up and see if you find a broken pipe. Should be easy to fix with a plastic pipe and pipe glue. Try a store like Loews for advice on how to fix if that is the problem.
