Bring all your blow molded / illuminated Santas and Rudolphs.
The neighbors will love you.
TV rule number one, if you have a question about it up north. Get rid of it.
Christmas is low key here. Some do stuff most do not do much.

Another post brought up the big note.
Storage.
Biggest issue people have is lack of storage.
I turn it around, no excess storage, no accumulation of unnecessary stuff.

Many homes here..... we do no use the attic. Way too hot up there in most cases.
Also who wants to hump everything up and down every year.

your call

yes, storage is a HUGE issue. I get that!

You will see it all. A simple wreath to Santa and his sleigh driving to a creche scene.
Personally I enjoy Christmas lights and decorations. I hope you bring yours,

Just remember you have to have a place to store it . Above in garage with all the summer heat not good for Christmas items.

Most comments are on target. Huge plastic tubs stacked in garage corner with a nice curtain around them are not noticed and store all inside decorations. Love the cheerful atmosphere, especially this year.

Bring everything you normally use, many of us still love to decorate inside and outside, in our village we do a golf cart drive through every block to see all the lights thanks to our village president who organized it and had it mapped out, lots of us have grandkids visiting and they love to see all the lights

I am in the process of purging so many things knowing that I’m not going to have as much storage, when we move there in November, as we do here up north. I just came upon the tubs of lights. Over the years, I’ve accumulate a lot of sets of lights. I decided to pack the LED ones and get rid of the rest. I’m looking forward to driving around on the golf cart looking at everyone’s displays.

wow. there's a rude comment? is this topic controversial? LOL. I guess being retired doesn't mellow out everyone! It sure will mellow me out (retiring at the end of the year, but a TV full-time resident very soon - part time at the moment).

as far as outside, I'm not sure I have some sort of amazing, note-worthy,, gawk-worthy display, and I do it all myself (I don't hire it out), but I just enjoy getting into the whole spirit of christmas, including lighting up the house a bit. just fun. my wife and I love christmas, simple as that

That's good enough you'll fit right in. I keep getting stuff from neighbors who don't want to keep it up and I fix them and put them all up. People always comment they love it if I'm out.

Congratulations on your move. We always decorate our yard and house. So do most of our neighbors. There are also companies like Len Hart Electric that will come put lights up, take them down and store them for you. If you choose this option they charge based on your house size and the type of lot if you want them around the yard. To wrap palms they charged me by the strand but they were very long strands. They provide the lights and the lights once you have the service is done yearly with them bringing your lights back. They offer white light strands or multi colored light strands. We have a boxwood model with a high peak so to me it is worth it not to have to get on a ladder. The lights are supposed to be taken down by New Year. They always get here the week after X-Mas so we have never been late getting our lights down.

We’ve stored all of our 19 Rubbermaid’s with Christmas decorations in the attic down here for years. We’ve not had one incident of any damage caused by the heat.

Llaperle 06-28-2021 10:54 AM

I store mine in the attic in bins and garbage bags and have had no damage at all for 7 years.😀👍🏼🎄

If you are really wondering whether people in The Villages put out Christmas lights, take a look at these 3 YouTube videos of Christmas light displays in The Villages. Either that, or just google "Christmas light displays The Villages FL". Unfortunately the Dunkirk display isn't as big as it once was because of theft and traffic problems.

ps. Just love Christmas but I'm not one of those "out of control" outside light displays either.

Just call the District Government 352-753-4508 and ask for Communuity Standards. They can tell you the rules without the misinformation. Very helpful!
