The only issue I know of is removing a mature Live Oak tree. You may need a permit and/or permission. Other than that I have not heard of removing palms or shrubs.

Actually that’s easy way to remove bush/hedge. I would NOT do it in sardine packed housing area where you can’t spit off your own property. Too much liability involved in crackerjack lot.

At my first home here (CYV) there was a long hedge in the front running along the side of the garage. It was a pain in a$$ to trim (not much room between the hedge and the garage wall), and offered zero privacy. That is one instance where I would vote for removing. No idea why the first owner put that in.
