Default Snake on the bushes

It was about 2 feet long. I believe it lives under our front row of bushes.

Can anyone identify it? Should we get rid of it? Will it keep religious door knockers away?

I can only speak for myself but you define it as "it"as singular. Unless it has taken the vow of chastity you may soon be greeted by the entire family

No snake expert here but it looks like it might be a black racer, which is non-poisonous.
Last year we had three garter snakes on our lanai. The first one I swept out with a broom. My wife likes snakes even less than me so, despite all of my assurances that they were good snakes which eat mice, I had to kill them. I spent a lot of time and used a lot of silicone sealant but I think I have every possible entry point closed. Time will tell but I really don't want to kill anymore garter snakes.

Looks like a black racer, which eats mice, rats and other rodents.

Ideos Meo,
Parece un corredor negro para mí. I understand we need them. Ours is named Sammy and he does a fine job, have not seen one Rat ever. I still shudder when we see him. I'm a city boy. I have a friend in TV'S who has been threatening a Bag O' Snakes be delivered to me for the last year.

I would leave it be. Its harmless. I understand these black snakes are very territorial and aggressive to keep other snakes away. That means it will chase away the bad ones. I welcome these black snakes they can stay as long as they wish.

Yep. Black racers are pretty common. They seem to avoid people and I've gotten use to them even though I don't like them and keep my garage screens closed so they don't explore our garage.

When you see egrets away from the water hanging around shrubs they're looking for those snakes. Must be a delicacy to them.

Our black racers use the bushes to help shed their skins. Often see the skins on the bushes once the snakes have gone.

We love them around the place as they keep the rodent numbers down.

Yes, I watched a white egret devour a black snake while sanding on the tee box #3 at Bogart one late morning. he found it at the electrical box in a homeowners backyard

we have a cotton mouth hidden in the boulders/rocks in our water fall. He ate our fish so we called a professional to come get him. No sign of him once we removed the remaining fish. Now we have another snake who took his place. Was told this one isn't dangerous. Can't recall the name of it. I wonder if the Cotten Mouth will return?

I would have removed the Cotton Mouth also. They can get very aggressive in matting season.

When we lived in Memphis it wasn't uncommon for someone to tell you they found a cottonmouth resting under a water hose
