We used Terrascape in 2010 for extensive landscaping front and back. We got three quotes. We liked that Terrascape has a large nursery on CR 301 where we choose our double Sylvester. We found Terrascape to be reliable and professional.

We had just purchased a CYV new and I wanted the pine straw removed, weed block put down, have the Holly Tree moved to the back yard and replaced with a Windmill Palm and then everything covered with copper rock. That was for the front and back, he gave me and my neighbor an estimate of $2700. My neighbor got 4 more estimates and maybe saved a couple of hundred. I told him he could start right now if he would take $2500. He said yes, if I paid him in cash when he was done.

I then went over to his nursery on 301 and met a lady and picked out the palm tree. His crew started about two days later. One thing I liked was they didn't dump the rocks on the street, they shoveled from their trailer straight into their wheel barrels. The two guys knocked it out in a full day and it looked good but nothing fancy.

Earlier this year I wanted my front yard totally redone with some bigger palm trees, retaining walls and plantings, all the grass removed and new irrigation. I called McGowan, who came by a few days later and she took notes and then emailed me an estimate a few days later. They were so booked that I then had to wait three weeks for them to do the job.

When Terracape was finished it looked like this, basically much like the original layout but with rocks and a small palm tree. The second photo is how it looked after McGowan was finished.

John, we are always talking landscape price on these threads, but everyone makes the comment "it depends what they do". Looking at the before and after gives us a pretty good idea of what happened. You gave us the cost for Terrascape - it would be interesting to see how much more you paid McGowan for their job. Just curious as numbers seem to be all over the place with these guys.

McGowan was $4,800. All the work and materials were priced beforehand including the labor in her estimate and they did not deviate except to lower the price. The original estimate was $5,400 but as I posted earlier, when they finished a 1/2 day early she deducted the amount of labor which is something like $1450 per day.

It's been six months so I don't remember exactly, but the price sheet would be something like; Sylvester Palm $650, Queen Palm $195, retaining wall $800, and then right down to the individual plants and rocks and labor. They even redid all the irrigation. Originally we had sod along the street about 5' into the yard, so besides removing the sod they had to remove the sprinklers. Also micro sprinklers were installed on every plant, no more spray type sprinklers. This way there is no water wasted and it goes directly to the root of the tree or plant. She even left us six more of the micro-heads that we can add for future plantings. They're easy to attach by just using a spike.
