Lost credit card
Yesterday, St. Patrick's Day, we had company we were showing around The Villages. I'm fairly certain that I dropped my credit card while in Spanish Springs while trying to purchase some items that I ended up paying cash for. I didn't realize I dropped the card in the process. I know it was extremely careless and I have never done this before. The last purchase I made was while we were at Sawgrass. I found out this afternoon that my card wasn't in my wallet and called our credit card company right away. Thankfully, no other purchases were made, and I feel foolish but know most people here would not take advantage of this. Sadly, even though we have lived here since 2013, our telephone number is not listed in The Villages phonebook. I tried to fix that years ago but even today it is still not listed. Whoever might have found the card, would not know how to reach me. Any suggestions as to who I could reach out to about this, could be helpful. I hate to cancel this card, but it looks like I may have to. Also, since we aren't in the phone book, any ideas who to notify? Never thought it important until now.

You can get a card expedited next day. May be a small fee. Most apps let you lock the card

You may not need to cancel the card. Most cards have an online process to turn off the card, which makes it unusable. Then, if you find the card, you can turn it back on.

Thank you. I just looked at the 2023 Villages phone book and we are listed in that one.

It is your responsibility to cancel the card as it is not in your control and you do not want to help someone else to use it to commit a crime.

did you go thru all your bags & jacket pockets? sometimes they wrap the receipt around the card. this happens to me too, then i find it in some obscure place, like under the car seats. do another really good search. as to the person(s) who may have found your card: call the local police station#, or even call the merchant. someone may have turned it in there

There was a post on NextDoor about someone finding a credit card and looking for the owner.

You are lucky I lost my wallet the other day and within 3 hours someone tried to take money out at an atm and then tried to take out a loan at Home depot. They were not satisfied with the $135 dollars in the walllet!

Every 6 months or so, I remove all items from my wallet and place them on my scanner glass and scan them to a computer file. Then, if I lose my wallet, I know exactly what I need to replace.
