Holidays are a busy time for all of us, including the scammers and fraudsters working overtime to cheat you out of your money or worse your identity. Unfortunately, seniors are targeted more frequently than any other population and for several reasons.

Seniors are most likely to have savings, own their home, and have excellent credit—all of which make them attractive victims.
People who grew up in the ‘30s, ‘40s, and ‘50s were generally raised to be polite and trusting. Con artists understand this and use this to victimize seniors, knowing it is difficult or impossible for these individuals to say “no” or hang up on someone.

Thank you for the reminder. Easiest thing to do as soon as you realize this is not a person you have given permission to use your phone number, is to hang up without saying a word. If they accuse you of not paying a bill or your taxes my local television network suggested perhaps swearing at them.
