Default Any reccomendation for Sports Injury Doc (Orthopedist?)?

Ripped up my left calf muscle Thursday. Can barely walk. Hoped it would heal with ice & rest but it isn't any better. Must have really stretched or torn a muscle.

Anyone know a good Sports Doc? (Shhhh! it didn't happen during sports but same injury )

There are many listed but don't want to just close my eyes and pick one.

Exclamation University of Florida

It is about an hour's drive to the University of Florida Sports Medicine Institute, affiliated with the University of Florida Medical School in Gainesville, Florida. It is also associated with the famous Shands Hospital, but your injury may not require hospitalization. Generally, the physicians here are teachers at the UF Medical School. (Mine was the Assistant Department head, and he and the Department head did my surgery.)

I cannot recommend the doctor that I had because he is a spine specialist, which is not your need, but you can review the page showing their specialists and select the one you think appropriate.

UF Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine Institute | Department of Orthopaedics and Rehabilitation >> College of Medicine >> University of Florida

I confess to being just a bit self-conscious when going into the Sports Medicine facility when the great majority of the other patients appear to be in the age group of University of Florida students, with knee, ankle or foot injuries from playing college sports. But, a lot of them are pretty girls, so I just accept it.

LOL, great answer on the girl watching.

My feeling is that I want to see what a local doc says first (go thru the probable MRI stuff here) before trekking out of the bubble. HOPEFULLY it isn't as bad as it feels. I'm a "walker" and normally do 6+ miles a day and right now I'm ready to jump out the window (heck, it's only 2ft off the ground - that won't do me any good). My wife didn't want me to get that damned 6' Orange tree and while taking it out of the back of the car on a dolly the dolly started rolling down the driveway (driveway quite hilly) and I backed up to stop it and SNAP. Of course I have been hearing "I told you not to get that tree" for the last 2 days!
