Default Anyone have Gallbladder surgery

Looks like the day has come to have my gallbladder removed... does anyone have diet suggestions? I'm hoping a mixed drink is allowed now and then !

I had mine out ages ago due to gallstones. If I had to do it all over again, I would have insisted on trying other alternatives prior to removal.

Had my gallbladder removed ortho-scopicly back in the 1980's. Recovery was less than two weeks. No dietary restrictions at that time but was told that body may process some foods differently. I found out quickly that many gas producing foods (raw veggies like onions or broccoli) made life uncomfortable at times. Cooked veggies were better for me. Also, I found certain changes in some personal habbits. Not everyone has the same outcome. Good luck and good health to you !

It affects different people differently. I had no issues whatsoever and have not changed my diet at all but never really ate greasy, fried, gravy laden foods anyway so I don’t know if they would be a problem.

My wife had the surgery about 20 years ago and we feel we should have tried other alternatives before the removal.

It is more important than we realized at the time and should only be removed if no alternative.

Have had it years ago... no problem at all.... but feeeeeel so much better. I eat the same... have not changed a thing... why???? because I feel fine.... go with how YOU feel afterward....your body will tell you... uck or not. I am not a big fry person, but I have enjoyed without hesitation when I do. Other than that... honestly no problems.... have a drink on occasion or what ever and see how you do. Pace..... I would not do anything for a couple of months after surgery... let your body heal. Your body will tell you ya or nay to things... but I really dont' know anyone with this surgery that has had to be strict or extra careful... they ate the same.

Had it removed early 90's, orthoscopic surgery. No change in diet, I don't drink so can't comment on that side but have had no issues since the removal and eat whatever I want. Was back to work in 3 days.

Had mine removed 25 years ago and was the best thing to do. I suffered periodically for years before surgery. It was a mess with pain and agony. I tried everything, including every potion that I heard about. To no avail, so finally said gitter done! Only a couple bouts since, but very minor compared to before surgery. Most don’t have any problems after surgery.

O yes, most can eat or drink about anything after surgery. Moderation is probably best! (For anyone). If you suffer often, get the surgery

Had mine removed about 25 years ago. Too much sausage or bacon will still upset me but as long as I don't over do it everything is good.

You should be fine. Mine was done via a Laparoscopic procedure. I was up and about the next day with no need for any pain meds. The worst part was getting rid of the gas they use to inflate your abdomen!

I eat and drink whatever I want and only have minor issues now and then.
