Anyone using Aetna Open Choice PPO medical coverage?
We currently live near Hershey, PA, but we're planning to move to TV as soon as possible. My wife & I have Aetna Open Choice PPO as our medical coverage.
I tried checking Aetna's web site for doctors near TV but the pages wouldn't load. So I called and spoke to a representative but she couldn't give me info as to doctors near TV. So does anyone there in TV use this medical coverage? And did you have any problem finding a family doctor who accepts it? Seems there would be many doctors who accept it near TV but we just want to verify before we make the move. Thanks. |

I don't know about Aetna, but I urge you to never join an HMO.

I had Aetna for 3 years when I was working. Absolutely the worse insurance company ever. So many complaints from my fellow employees forced the company to insure with Blue Cross. |

Your best bet is to call Aetna directly.

I went to Aetna Doc find and saw lots of doctors names for general practice. You can put in a specialty, then your zip code and select your coverage. I've never had a problem with the website.

Were those doctors you saw for the Villages area? I did go to the Aetna web site and do a doctor search but the page wouldn't load. So I then called a rep at Aetna but she wasn't able to help me out either. She said she thought maybe their web site was having maintenance done. That is why I decided to post on the forum, so I could try to get first hand knowledge from people who have used this coverage.

I have the Aetna Medicare Advantage PPO with Extended Service Area. It is through Ohio State Teachers' Retirement. Since there aren't any in-network providers here, I can go to anyone I want and it is considered in-network. The only place it has been refused is with the Villages Health. I can go to a specialist without a referral. Very happy with it since I can use it at The Shands in Gainesville.

Friend of mine has Aetna. For some reason, Aetna cancelled coverage for Munroe Hospital in Ocala (seems like they did this before and then reinstated Munroe -- probably a money dispute). However, Aetna was still accepted at Ocala Regional, which is literally right across the street from Munroe, so no worries. He just had a colonoscopy at TVRH. No problem with Aetna coverage. Don't know who is doctor is in TV, but, again, didn't seem to be an issue for him.
