Default Assisted Living Facilities

Need advice and recommendations on any of the Assisted Living facilities close to TV. I am going to have to place my aunt into one very soon and want one that is homey, safe and close to me so I can drop in frequently. Would like to hear both pros and cons on any experiences anyone may have regarding this subject. Thanks in advance!

I know someone living in Freedom Pointe. She absolutely loves it there!

I'm looking for more assisted living than that, I think. Aren't the people that live there pretty much on their own - more like regular independent living?

I'm told they have different levels from independent to those in need of a lot of assistance.

Friends of ours moved his folks into Lexington on 466 within the last month. I can not remember the full name of the facility but it is located just west of the 466/Rolling Acres intersection. We have been there once to visit them and found it to be a very nice place with ample care on site to help his mom out.

Default Assisted Living

If you have not done so yet, you may want to check The Villages phone book. There are quite a few listings which are either in The Villages or close by.

I visited a friend who lives at Steeple Chase, which is located near the Walmart on 466 and just recently opened. It seemed to be very nice from a visitor's experience. They are listed on the internet.

I think there may be new facilities on 466 near Rolling Acres and also on 301 not far from the 466/301 intersection. These places may not be listed in the phone book, so you may want to drive thru these areas. Again, I do not know what services they provide.

Hope you are able to find someplace comforting for your aunt.

In my area the state inspects homes and the reports are on the internet. Might see if yours are. If not, ask the home to see their reports.
Check how well the place is cleaned. The better it is cleaned the better the care will probably be.
The more often you stop in the better the care might be. (Since the staff will know you care)

My heart goes out to you to have to go through this. I know how difficult it is.
Two years ago I was supported by TOV replies in search for day care assistance for a family member with Alzheimers. I received the following response from Don S.:
The best place I have found (for my wife with AZ) is Prestige Manor in Bellview. It is an assisted living facility which accepts day care. I leave my wife there two days a week for 8-9 hrs/day and the cost is very reasonable ($50/day). Check them out @ 352-245-1005. Don S. You may want to check them out as a possible assisted living facility. Also, I've read that the assisted living facility associated with Freedom Pointe is very good.
Good Luck to you!
