Can anyone refer me to a excellent doctor for Mohs on the face?
I'm looking for a good doctor who won't leave people scarred, thanks!

There's an ad for such a practice in today's Sun. I think it's in the Local section inside 3rd page. They're located in the Sharon Morse building by the Villages Hospital. They advertise doing the MOHS. Hope this is helpful!!!

My husband had Mohs surgery on his face. It was done by Dr. Tran at Laurel Manor. You can't even see where it was done and it was quite a large wound.

Dr. Tran did surgery on my nostril and it looks great. He took some skin from behind my ear and grafted it to my nose and I didn't feel a thing. Highly recommend him.

Another vote for Dr. Tran. He has removed a few items on my face without leaving visible scars.

Microscopically controlled surgery for skin cancer--named after Dr. Frederick Mohs. My husband just had surgery for a lesion on his neck by Dr. Tran and we were very satisfied with the result.

Mohs is a form of surgery to remove basal cell cancer. They take layer by layer off until they are sure it is all removed. In my case they kept doing a biopsy until they were sure it was all removed and had a plastic surgeon on standby to stitch me up.
If you do a search on Mohs you will find additional information.

obxgal, it is not just basal cell...it is for sqamous as well
I had both a basal cell carcinoma and a squamous cell....one each side of my forehead. Both done at the same time. Both 100% successful. No recurrence 8 years hence.
The process is one of mapping margins. Each sample taken is mapped and locations of existing cells marked. Then successive samples taken and the process is repeated until the margins are cancer free. Hence some wounds CAN be large and or deep. Many MOHS trained surgeons also spend time being trained in cosmetic surgery techniques to minimize scarring and appearance. Many of the really focused MOHS surgeons do not do normal dermatology practice. They remain specialized. It is a distinct advantage in my opinion. btk |
