Default Crocs. Are these good for the feet?

Anyone wear Crocs? These are supposedly very good for the health of the foot but have not worn them myself. http://www.crocs.com/

Think they are really ugly but they might make up for it in care of the foot?

There was a shop selling Crocs in Mt Dora when we went there @ March 11, 2008.

Yes Tal, I wear crocks, and I must say they are quite comfortable but in all honesty they have not helped my heel problem at all, in fact I feel like they have made it even worse.

Of course everyones feet are different and whats good for my feet may not feel good to you. I think we have hit on this topic before but I am wondering what shoe would be the best for my heel spur???

Actually ugly is why I like them. I even bought the first Toyota mini-van that ever came out. Now that was UGLY!!, but I drove it proudly!

Crocs good for the health of the foot ?????? That's news to me. I do have black Crocs which I wear for my gardening and they are very, very COMFORTABLE, so it IS tempting to wear them all the time, but they provide no support for the foot.

Don't know for sure about being "good" for the feet, but they sure do feel good. However, you have to get used to them. You must be sockless when wearing them or you look like a dork. The first few times, the bumps feel strange but once you acclimate, they feel great. Any sensation that strange has got to be good for you.

As to their looks, what's ugly? ??? I got my first pair in Texas on a road trip 2 years ago. Unfortunately the only ones in my size were ungodly, gaudy orange. :yikes: I bought them anyway and wore them enough to know I liked the feel. A couple days later in Kansas City, I found a store with a great selection and bought another pair in a more subdued, more adult, not childish tan. A week or so later, I was on Maryland Eastern Shore on a river. I gave my brother the bright pair. (Dual purpose -- something for him to wear around the water and I'd get rid of the things.) His kids and grandkids kinda forced him into wearing them and he loved 'em. 040 So I returned to TV with my chic yet subdued Crocs. Not long after that, I realized my mistake -- if you're gonna wear Crocs, you find the god-awfullest bright ugly color you can. Makes you feel better when you wear them. :hot: I've a bit of my mom in me, so I won't throw good shoes out to buy new ones, but I'm really trying to wear that first pair out.

As to whether they are good for the health of your feet, I dunno. But I do know that they're good for the health of your mind. :hot: :hot:

I don't wear Crocs myself....I wear similar shoes sold by LLBean.
Crocs does sport models that offer help to those with some foot difficulties....Crocs RX for men and women. http://www.footsmart.com/P-Crocs-RX-...men-71190.aspx
http://www.footsmart.com/P-Crocs-RX-...Wmn-71191.aspx

One thing to be careful about....these types of shoes can "catch" on the pavement when you walk, and they can be a problem when getting off an escalator. Children have had lots of problems in this particular area. http://abcnews.go.com/GMA/Consumer/story?id=2530368

As for comfort, I enjoy my LLBean shoes, though they don't offer much support, but they are easy to put on, easy to slip off, they take the mud, rain, and offer protection for my feet....and they're fun.

Why not try a pair and find out for yourself....I see them EVERYWHERE..

Bought apair at Foot Doctor's Office. Supposedly they are "medical grade" with a slightly different design. They are very light and comfortable but not sure if they are better for foot or better for Doc's cash flow as they were $40/pair.

I noticed Crocs being worn by many nurses and a surgeon at LRMC and when I asked they all said they were very comfortable and since they spend long hours on their feet they recommended them.

Hancle,

What is the difference between regular crocks and the medical crocks?? I am really interested in knowing since there is only a 10.00 difference. It may be worth the price difference.

Many podiatrists believe that todays shoes have TOO much support. Man first walked barefoot. Foot coverings were for warmth and comfort for the soles and heals. I love my Crocs, but I must be a dork because I wear socks. The rubber causes excessive perspiration.

Agree about barefoot being the most healthful. I tried it for a bit, but gave up in frustration. Do you know how painful it is screwing golf cleats into your bare soles? :yikes:

Nonie:
I am not familiar with all of the various models, but the ones that appear to be what I bought at Podiatrist's Office are listed as Crocs Specialist Vents and seem to have a slightly different design.

I wear crocs a lot, I recently bought a pair of the CrocsRx which are supposed to be better for bad feet (heel spur in this case). I like 'em

I have 2 pairs of crocs in which I bought them both at the Mt Dora location you were talking about. I bought the MaryJane style which I think is much more appealing then the original ones. I love them. I wear them all the time!!! ;D

Have a pair of crocs now. Are you supposed to wear these things with or without socks? It has been too cold in the mornings to go out without socks on so I have had to stick to my regular tennis shoes.
