Default Cataract Surgery Experience

My husband needs cataract surgery. There are more choices today than years ago.
We were curious about the Laser surgery (Multifocal) that corrects near and far vision. We would appreciate hearing from anyone who has had this done and comments about it.
Thank you.

Cataract surgery by Laser is a simple procedure....I used Dr. Scott Holman at Lake Eye. I did not go with the multifocal as several friends and family that had it done experienced significant haloing. I have different lenses in each eye plus he did some reshaping. The only time I need glasses is for very fine print and since I don't wear glasses I just ignore fine print....

Also had my surgery performed by Dr. Scott Holman at Lake Eye and went for the top of the line multifocal lens. Not happy at all and think I was sold a bill of goods. Had much better near vision prior to the surgery and since the surgery the near vision has not improved one iota despite numerous assurances that it would. Do lots of homework so that you are satisfied after the procedure.

I had mine done by Dr. Ireland at St. Lukes in Sumter Landing. Highly recommended

Another vote for Dr. Ireland.

I investigated and decided against the "bifocal" lens. Too many people with issues.

I did get one eye done with the torick lens (for astigmatism....not covered by medicare.....about $1100 extra).

And one regular lens.
I had them set for mono...one near and one far.
I have not had to wear glasses of any kind for the past 5 years except sun glasses.

Good luck.

Default Eye Doctor

My husband used Lake Eye and he said the doctor told him he was due for cataract surgery right away. When we left our home town to move here the eye doctor there said he was not even close to needing cataract surgery yet. He is going to try Dr. Ireland.

I used Dr. Jodie Armstrong at Ocala Eye. Big office building across from Laurel Manor Rec Center near 466.

It was amazing. I was frightened and she told me my options, was kind and smart and warm and very, very patient.

and the out of pocket with Aetna Medicare was less than five hundred dollars.

Dr Ireland did my eyes, left eye for distance and right eye for reading. Could not be happier, no more glasses.

My brother in law just had the mono lens cataract surgery these past two weeks and is extremely satisfied. He went to Lange Eye, Dr. Seaborne Hunt dId the surgery at Sante Fe Surgical center on 466, east of Morse. Dr. Hunt also did my wifes surgery last summer with great success.
