Cataract Surgery
 

I wold never go to Ocala again--had cataract surgery there and had more trouble that it was actually worth it to have had it done! Prescribed the wrong medicine, went back 4 times only to e told there was nothing wrong, it was in My head! Finally could not get into local office so went to one of the doctors in Ocala and he could not believe what was going on--actually said that it was too bad I could not sue the doctor that did this. He is still there so if you can't get in to Armstrong, I would definately look somewhere else.

Doctor was not Armstrong but have talked with several people and they all feel the same--use someone else! Lake Eye has several doctors that do great work

I had Dr. Jank at Ocala Eye do my cataract surgery and extremely pleased. No longer wear glasses. Did one eye for distance and other for reading.

Don’t live in TV anymore but when we lived there for 8 yrs. I was amazed how many Drs. there was for anything you needed done & I found out there is a lot of very good Drs. but but to talk to any one of them they’ll tell you they’re the best. If you go to a Dr. go to a eye specialist. I wouldn’t come here for advice because there’s a lot people that go to certain Drs.
for a reason because they are cheap & do 100 eye surgeries a day. Research a lot & go to one you trust, not because they do a lot or they’re cheap! Good Luck

Please just get distance. I did that. No biggie to wear readers. I have 20/20 vision in both eyes. Do not need readers for cell. My husband did multi and needs glasses!!!

I agree why fight traffic when you can have it done 10 minutes away?

I highly recommend Dr. Armstrong. I had both eyes done by her (mono, for distance). Her whole team is wonderful and transportation provided if needed. Distance for driving is great and yes... Television viewing is good! You won't be disappointed. She is also a kind and caring person.

I had mine done a few years ago but Lake Eye, Dr. Wherli and associates were fantastic. Because I was under 65 and didn’t want to go back using cheaters, I elected to got with multifocal lenses. I think it cost $4000.00 out of pocket. I have had no issues since.

We have been with Ocala Eye for 21 years and are very pleased with the eye care we have received. We were with Dr. Schwenk until he retired and were then taken over by Dr. Armstrong. It couldn't have been better. She is pleasant and competent and we will continue to have her take care of our eye health. We have not developed cataracts, but know she does that type of surgery.

I had both eyes done by Dr. Armstrong about 2 years ago. I opted for the multi focal lenses ($6400 over what Medicare paid at that time) and would do it again in a heartbeat.
I Love not having to constantly dig for reading glasses and seeing clearly at a distance.

my husband went with Dr Charles Sweeney, for both eyes (done months apart), in Gainesville. We were very impressed with his diagnosis, plan, procedures, followup, and all!

I’ve heard good things about only two doctors st Ocala Eye: Drs Armstrong and El Mallah.

BUT I hear a constant drumming of Exceptional positive experiences at St Luke’s right in LSL. I’ve heard several names repeated (some right in this thread), but it sounds:popcorn: like ANY doctor there is exceptional.

None of this is from personal experience. I had mine done well before moving to TV.

Curious....several posts about waiting 4 weeks between first and second eye. Why so long?

I have no experience with that doctor, but I was very dissatisfied with another doctor in the practice, and with the technician who did a hurried and slipshod refraction. These Bozos would not write a prescription. They are in the business of selling surgery and nothing but that. I went to an Optometrist who took time, got the refraction right, and prescribed bifocals so again I can read, and see clearly at distances.

Lake Eye, Dr Holman did my surgery and I had the multifocal lenses put in in 2016. I wore glassed for distance and reading for 40 years, and since the surgery, I have not had to wear glasses for either. Love it. He was and is wonderful and it was one of the best decisions I made. No problems with distance and reading even small print. Well worth the money. The decision to have the cataracts done should be made on your eye doctors recommendation.

My wife had second eye done this morning by Dr. Holman, all is great...but my question is still out there, why do some wait for 4 weeks between surgeries? No longer an issue for us, but curious.
