Default Conceriage/Private Doctor in Villages?

Hello,

I just got back to Somerset, Ky from spending 3/1/10 thru 3/9/10 visiting the Villages (dealt with Bob Barr in office) and looking at the new homes in the Villages (and a few other areas. I'm coming back to purchase in about 30-days. Has anyone ever had or know of a Doctor in or near the Villages that offers what is refered to as Private or Conceriage type pratice where the Doctor charges anywhere from 1,500.00 & up a year per patient. I believe if I can consolidate my medical issues with one doctor, and be seen when it is my turn (in Ky my avg wait time is 2.5hrs) this would enable me to enjoy my new time in Florida and not have to worry about 3-different Doctors ie: Internist, pain management doctor & doctor for mental health issues-anxiety etc.

I have the support of my Doctors here in Ky and all believe this would be a good idea thus allowing me to concentrate of enjoying activities and not with Doctor appts 3 times a month.

If comments or suggestions would be great & helpfull.
I'm blessed to have extra disposable income for such a type of service.
I would have it here in Ky, but there are no Doctors with private pratices located near here.

Thanks in advance.

Raymond

I am very pleased with my doctor here and hardly ever have to wait. He also has his own lab in the same building. Send me a private message if you would like to have his name and number.

What makes the doctor situation a nightmare, tigger_kitty?

I have only gone to one doctor, Hamilton Fish, an endocrinologist, on the advice of Bonny who posts on this forum. I think he is an excellent doctor. I have some other doctors lined up for when we move full time, also on the advice of people I trust.

I would like to avert trouble if I can. What problems did you run into, tigger?

I have yet to have had a negative experience in the almost 2 years we've lived here---with any health-care professionals. Beyond having a wait in one of their waiting-rooms. The care I've had has been exceptional to date! I've seen a handful from across the board---opthamologist, primary-care, dental, oral-surgeon, chiropractor and even Urgent Care.
I haven't heard of a doctor like you've inquired about but would like to hear if there is such a practice here!

Hi Raymond,
My Mom's doctor in south FL has a concierge practice. She likes it very much. However, I'm not sure how that relates to having just one doctor for all types of medical needs.

Her doctor, an intern or general practitioner (can't remember which), does limit his practice to x-number of patients a year. (I don't remember how many). Each patient pays him a flat annual fee. When my Mom needs an appointment with him, she makes one-- no wait. She can go as often as she needs to. However, if she needs a specialist, such as a podiatrist, she will go to one.

Her doctor probably could handle all of the specific medical situations you described. However, so might a GP or internist who does not have a concierge (or limited patient) practice. Perhaps it is different in KY.

All that said, I do not know whether there is a doctor in the TV area who has a concierge practice. A better question, based on how you described your needs, might be whether there's a good internist or GP in TV who could handle all of the medical situations you described.
