Default Coronavirus Tests

At over 115,000 people, The Villages is the world's largest over-55 community, and the most rapidly expanding metro area in the United States for a number of years running.

The Villages has spread into three Florida County’s Marion, Lake and Sumter.

The following are the number of tested in each County and to hear that the testing facilities are presently out of tests and putting people on waiting lists until additional tests are received is scary and disappointing.

(Below data from “Florida Department of Health, Division of Disease Control and Health Protection”)

Marion County total tested to date - 97
Lake County total tested to date - 71
Sumter County total tested to date- 53
Total Tests to date 221

Summary - 115,000 Seniors Total tests provided to date 221

We will not see the extent of the virus spreading through the Villages until we test.

Shouldn’t we be worried about our most venerable citizens

Anybody who needs a test can get a test. They have them, they're beautiful. They're all set. They're perfect.

The REAL question is - Did anyone in TV have symptoms, contact their Dr, who told them to be tested, AND THERE WAS NO TESTING AVAILABLE?

We have been following the social-distance stuff, feel fine and have no reason to believe we have CV-19. WHY TEST us??? I am in the "risk group" - age & conditions. What would a test show if I don't exhibit symptoms? Why clog the system and take the materials required for testing from those who may need it?

Calm down. Premier Medical has been offering drive-thru testing all week.

Read the Daily Sun. Drive thru testing will start Monday at the Polo fields. Governor is here today to announce it.

Actually the certain number known is 845000 (population of the three counties) with 221 tests administered. Just because TV has 115000 residents doesn't mean that's how many seniors reside in the three counties. Obviously much more than 115000. If I read between the lines many posters feel comfort in having the total population tested. My guess is that will provide a comfort feeling to know the real infection rate. But if the virus is exponential what good is knowing the rate today - it will double tomorrow. Secondly if you test negative today doesn't mean you won't have the virus tomorrow. Having that data early may have helped in selecting areas and groups for mandatory quarantine. However moot now and here. The Government published all seniors should be on voluntary quarantine (15 day to reduce the spread document). The 10 person social distancing would apply to healthy non seniors. Thus TV should be quarantined although voluntarily if you were following the government guidelines.

It's a problem when the people that qualify under CDC guidelines for testing can't be tested

Prayers for a very speedy recovery and feeling better soon. There is a new test that is suppose to be out very soon. I realize that is not comforting to someone who needs to be tested at this moment, but hopefully they will be distributed soon. It also is much quicker for them to process to get the info they need.

Just received a Push Message from Daily Sun app: "Slots for tomorrow's drive-thru testing in The Villages are now open at UFHealthCovid.com"

Wishing you good luck and good health!

Tests are available. I am being tested tomorrow at the Polo Grounds as part of a research study.

Someone states they have symptoms, but cant get a test even when recommended by their doctor.
Then someone else is getting tested for a 'research study!'
Left and right hand do not seem to be talking!

Testing is not something to joke about.
