So it sounds like the OP is concerned that a doctor may not accept her for just having basic Medicare without a supplement to cover the 20%. I've wondered that myself. The cost of a supplement is high, almost to the point that being self-insured might prove to be cheaper for the patient if nothing extraordinary happened.

I think most doctors who accept regular Medicare Part B are going to collect the 20 percent copay upfront from patients who don't have a Medicare supplement.
