He is great, he has been my PCP for years.

Gegaj is my PCP. The letter I received from FHVHealth says he is leaving on Jan. 26.

Opening his own practice in February sounds challenging to me -- ordering/installing equipment, hiring/training staff, setting up/training on a medical record system, establishing billing through Medicare and insurance companies, etc, etc. Whew!

As far as contacting his current patients with information about his new practice, I can't imaging FHVHealth willingly giving him that contact info. But what do I know?

Having said all that, I plan to stay with Dr. Gegaj.

I agree... I would be very surprised if FHV would give him his patient contact information.
I'm also surprised that FHV didn't have him sign a non-compete agreement (he would have to wait a certain time or not practice within a certain # of miles).
Lucky for him they didn't do that!

I was with him at Premier and I followed him to FVH. I’ll change with him again. He trained at Case Western and gives his patients a high level of care. If he referred me to a specialist they were always terrific. I imagine he’ll add some new physicians and it will be a top tier practice.

He does not come under non-compete because he works on a green card or something similar, that is why Premier Medical could not sue him when he left.
I will go wherever he goes, but don't know what to do for pcp until then. I got letter also, did not say another pcp would be assigned.

As a retired RN and familiar with doctors leaving their group, I asked him about the non-compete. When joining FHV they so wanted him to join their practice, they did not require him to sign such an agreement. Good for him to negotiate this in his favor.

We :bigbow:LOVE Dr. Gegaj and thank everyone for all the information. We did try and contact him through the portal (FHV) - but he is out until January 6th. I will call his new location and we will STAY with him. He solved my husbands heart pill issues - doing much better than the 'other' cardiologist that we saw at FHV!!

We will follow him to the new practice. Hopefully, his patient load will be reduced from the 30 or so per day he sees now. I wonder if Ann, office receptionist/scheduler, will move with him. She is phenomenal.

I hope you are correct and he will still practice here. They have medical offices at Creekside. He will be at FHV until late January. I have two appointments for the first 2 weeks in Jan. My wife and I have been with him for several years and he is wonderful.
