Dr. Lew is one of the best. He is the founder of Florida Heart and Vascular. He is my cardiologist.

Did the wrong thing went with The Village insurance for both of us,can not go out of pocket only if we pay. Yesterday paid Dr. Yalamanchi and he scared us so we both have not sleep last night . Buy the way we are married 55 years. We are going to to Dr. Lew today's 8:45 and see what he said. Thank you

You write that his cartoaid artery is 100%, do you mean it's 100% blocked?, your sentence doesn't mean much. I had an artery 100% blocked but my heart created it's own parallel artery and replaced the original. They say that is somewhat common. A stress EKG will take pictures of your heart in motion through a sort of time-lapse photography and you will get a better idea. Since your husband is still with us, it's a good possibility his heart formed it's own parallel artery like mine did. I have a echo-cardiogram every year to check on the valve, I just had my latest two weeks ago. So far they say it's not serious enough to replace. If it had been the aortic valve they have a much easier way to replacing the valve using the TAVR procedure. By using a transcatheter much like a stent through the groin, they can replace a new valve in place of the old valve. The mitral valve use to be only replaceable via an open heart surgery, but they are now working on replacing the mitral valve also using a transcatheter. However, they prefer to wait until it's absolutely neccessary since it's a little more involved. Someday I'll probably have to go through that procedure, but until then I go on with my life and enjoy it as much as possible. As you can see in my avatar, I'm in a workout shirt having lunch at Bob Evans just after leaving MVP. Last edited by John_W; 05-11-2017 at 09:45 AM. |

Just to let everyone know went to Dr.Lew this morning. Very good at explaining what the problem is and how he has to go to the artery by first putting a filter befor putting a stent he had said he has be doing this for 25 yr. By the way he said to be there should be no problem with insurance as long as did have the worse insurance from THE VILLAGES HEALTH of course I said that is what I have and he said he has had United Health not OK a simple Carotid Artery 90% blocked. I like our MD, but it is not good one when you have problems. I will be looking for insurance. We both did not get any sleep last night after we talk to Dr Yalamanchi but we felt better talking and asking question today with DR Lew. Thank you for all listening
