[QUOTE=asianthree;1893263]New White House press didn’t have kind words on sending more vaccine to FL. Due to holding back the second dose for 65 and over.
Naturally, I bet couple states got overages? |
Even people you KNOW can be carriers because you dont KNOW where they have been and who they have been around ...the barber, the beautician, getting nails done, on and on. Each person has a bubble around them of where they have been and who they have been around You should not be around anyone you do not live with without a mask - we are a professional medical family and we take this seriously. Would not think of eating in an indoor restaurant or going to a gym, playing trivia or any of the many things we enjoy right now...getting tired of it all too after one year of isolation but we want to see our grand kids grow up, get married etc . Too much to live for to take any chances right now....

What health care facility has 90% of the staff refusing the vaccine? |

No worries I am not anywhere near Florida. But many who are pregnant, child bearing years, or have reactions to other vaccines are choosing not to be vaccinated. At this time the 185 facility’s I am attached to have not made it mandatory to be vaccinated or be fired, as in the case of flu vaccine. |

There are two datasets on this CDC page that give allocation numbers for the two vaccines. There are columns in the spreadsheet for doses to be administered this week and second does shipments which will be available 21 or 28 days later. If you add both the first and second dose numbers for both Pfizer and Moderna then you get to the 8.6M doses allocated (not shipped) the week of 1/25 but since half of those are for second doses then only 4.3M first doses will be shipped (about 600K/day). Reading just these spreadsheets it gets confusing. It isn't clear if States are expected to order first and second doses today and then retain the second doses for 21 or 28 days or if they order the 1/25 first doses today plus the 1/4 and 12/28 second doses. And, since there was some confusion about whether the Federal Govt was stockpiling second doses or relying on the supply chain and since the supply seemed to be a moving target I could understand the State's reluctance to use all the vaccine it had and not hold back the second doses that it knows it will need. It sounds like today FL is attributing the 53% utilization to holding back the second doses. This would seem to be a reasonable explanation except a Tampa Bay Times article says that until now Desantis had " derided the idea of keeping vaccines in cold storage to ensure there would be enough second doses to go around, even threatening hospitals who didn’t put the shots in arms fast enough." So which is it, has the FL Administration been threatening hospitals that put vaccines into reserve or have they encouraged hospitals to put vaccines into reserve? As far as not being sure of the supply chain, I read an article or heard an interview yesterday where another State Governor was saying that if the Federal Govt. wanted States to use all the vaccine that had been delivered then the Fed Govt could order the States to do that. This Governor believed the Fed Govt wanted States to hold back some of the vaccine for second doses. That isn't what the CDC page indicates but there seems to be some confusion among several States. So there seems to be a lot of confusion. The Fed Govt says it is not stockpiling second doses but that it is allocating the doses it receives in order to ensure second dose are available. At the same time, the Fed Govt says it doesn't control the supply and is at the mercy of the providers who haven't produced according to the original expectation. The States believed the Fed Govt was stockpiling but learned they are not. The States seem to be confused as to how much vaccine they can order and whether they should build the reserves for the second shots. Newspaper reports in Florida indicate that up until this week the State Govt was threatening facilities who were reserving second doses and not putting all available doses into arms. Then this week we heard the State had a change of heart and is now holding back enough vaccine to meet the demands for second doses. There seems to be a lot of confusion and distrust. I hope it all gets cleared up soon. |
Of course there will be lots of confusion. I was told just two days ago by my doctor's nurse that those that catch the virus and recover, only have antibodies for a couple of months or so. She also said that the vaccine will have to be implemented yearly like the Flu shot, because the immunity from the vaccination will wear off in a few months. I don't know where folks get their information or whether it is just speculation based on evidence or experience from the past. Right now, I am only concentrating on getting my spouse an appointment for her shots. I know that I will eventually be offered mine at the VA so I am not concerned. The ONLY reason for me getting my vaccination will be to protect my wife. If she gets hers and has the immunity, I will not be concerned about getting it or not. Like I have said before, I know at least 12 family members that have recovered from the virus and I am in as good or better shape than them and have never had the flu, so I have no doubt that if I do become infected I will survive. If not, oh well. I figure it like this, I have outlived the "sell by" date and have had a great life. No complaints. As far as I am concerned, if you are depending on others for your safety then you have never grown up. Don't depend on someone else for your safety, because even your shadow disappears in the dark. That means, if you are assuming that everyone else around you is going to look out for you by wearing protective gear and distancing themselves, then you are setting yourself up for disappointment. Take care of yourself.
But, on subject I am also disappointed that Sumter county seems like the only one that is not distributing vaccinations right now. I am also disappointed that it is very difficult to locate available sites that are giving shots and that when you do locate one, the are schedule full and have no openings. BUT, I am also confident that I just have to be patient and I will eventually get my spouse scheduled so that she can feel free to leave the house again. We all need to have patience and strive to avoid panic and hysteria. There are those (even on here) that insist on passing on their miserable, negative attitude. It does not make them feel any better, but they seem to live by the "misery loves company" theme. |

When people quote the “survival” statics they don’t mention what some of those peoples “survival” now looks like. Life has forever changed for them. If people are telling you they are hanging out with their “Social Group Bubble” because they KNOW them keep in mind there are many leaks in that bubble. |
Or perhaps someone has an agenda
