I'd start by going to my primary care doctor and have him/her act as my Quarterback...they'd know what symptoms they're seeing and be in a good position to refer me to the right specialists, if needed

My recommendation is to select a good orthopedic doctor and make an appointment. During this appointment, they should be able to diagnose the cause of your pain and decide what is your next step.

In January, I started checking recommendations on TOTV for doctors who do knee replacement surgeries. I got 3 recommendations - Dr. Nguyen in Orlando, Dr. Duke in Ocala, and Dr. Messieh in The Villages. After reviewing those recommendations, I chose Dr. Messieh. The first thing they had me do when I made an appointment was to get X-rays and then during my appointment, he was able to determine the cause of my pain. In my case, that required replacement surgery, and I had that done the first of March (just before the shut down), and I my recovery has gone really great.

I would add that I learned that although Dr. Nguyen was very popular, he has a very long wait time to schedule an appointment and his office is in Orlando. Dr. Duke was popular but the reviews indicate that you see his PA and not him during your evaluation. Dr. Messieh has an office next to The Villages hospital on Wednesdays (his main office is in Clermont) and I can say that his office staff was fantastic in scheduling everything for me.

Here is a link to my Forum thread with the recommendation replies I received: Question about Doctors performing Knee Replacements

I had both knees done by Dr. Karina at UNOVA. One was a full and the other a partial. I was up and playing golf at 8 weeks and softball (with a pinch runner) at about 12 weeks.
