Default Latest Medicare Scam

I am seeing an increase in ads for Medicare part C. There is no such Medicare plan and it is a scam to get Medicare eligible folks to get their supplement plan. Be very cautious about these scams

Medicare Advantage plans are also called Part C.

Of course you need to be careful when shopping for health insurance, especially Medicare plans. But you need to be cautious also about raising possibly unnecessary red flags regarding scams.

The Medicare Advantage plans are referred to as Medicare Part C. They combine Parts A, B, and D into a single plan. If you have a Part C Advantage plan, you cannot purchase a Medicare supplement plan. The supplement plans only work if you have Medicare Parts A and B. The supplement pays the coinsurance payments associated with Parts A and B.

The supplements are not a scam. Medicare does not pay for everything. The supplement makes up most of the difference

Medicare supplement plans are regulated and standardized by the Federal Government, and they are sold by private insurers. There are 10 different plans available in most states. You must have Medicare Parts A and B to purchase a Medicare supplement plan. If you have a Medicare Advantage plan, Part C, it is illegal for an insurer to sell you a Medicare supplement plan.

Jim, If you would like to get very detailed info in person, contact SHINE, SHINE - Home they have multiple meetings in the villages and provide one on one discussions on health care for seniors. The local meeting schedule is usually in the Daily Sun, I do not remember which day it appears.
