Default Liver Transplant - Mayo

If any of you have experience with liver transplant and, specifically, the Mayo transplant process...please either post or PM.

I don't like the sound of this at all.

I will be praying and if you need anything please holler in a PM.

Hugs and love,

Gracie

I'm with Gracie on this one - do not like the sounds of this at all. Unfortunately, or maybe fortunately, I know nothing about liver or liver transplants, but I do Mayo Clinic and if you have to have something done that is the place to be.

Default Liver Transplant at Mayo

I have experience with the liver transplant team at Mayo in Minnesota. I don't think you can get much better care than you'll find there. Mayo follows the same listing procedures as any other hospital. Their approach means you'll have regular access to a team of professionals who will be able to answer all of your questions and concerns. They take a very personal interest in all of their patients and they treat you like a member of the family. That approach takes a lot of the anxiety out of the experience.

I assume you've already done plenty of research starting with the American Liver Foundation.

Here's a website you'll need to visit: Liver transplant treatment options at Mayo Clinic

Feel free to PM me if I can answer any of your questions.

BTW: April is Donor Awareness Month! Organ donors are genuine heroes.

You are certainly in my thoughts and prayers.

Geewiz I don't know about liver transplants but I do know that Mayo is top notch and my hospital of choice. Anyway I'm sending prayers for your absolute and complete healing.

If Mayo takes you then you are a very good candidate for a transplant. They are a small transplant team and very selective as to who they take. they don't want to bring their success rate down. Meaning if they only do 12 per year and have one failure that is a large failure rate. I've been going to mayo for ten years in MN. You can't get better than them. You're very lucky to have Been accepted. Good luck!

My prayers are with you, Geewiz. Please get well. I only met you once, but that was enough in my book to care about you.

Mayo has an excellent reputation, as you can see here. You are on a road well-traveled by others, and there will be many folks to help you and light the way. Godspeed.

Not familiar with their liver program, but my spouse had treatment at the Mayo in Jacksonville in another department, and we were very satisfied with the level of care and professionalism of the surgeons. Sorry to hear of your health issues, and wishing you the best.

Hey Dude. I will pray that a liver transplant will be successful so you can enjoy life to the fullest.
