Default Looking for Referrals: Family/General, Rheumatologist, Neurologist

My wife has Sjogrens Syndrome (In RA Family), and we're relocating to TV from WI, and looking for good doctors and warnings of not-so-good ones to compare against our directory of in-network doctors for coverage. Any Guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Attend meetings of the Sjorgren's Support Group. They would be of help with referrals

There are no rheumatologists in The Villages - I saw Dr. Gonzales in Ocala and he was pretty good. He sent me to Shands for my Gastro issues. For General doc we see Dr. Martinez-Cruz and really like him. That was my most difficult move to a new doc since I saw my old internist for over 20 years.

Dr. Lafferty has a village office he's there on Tuesdays only. His main office is in Ocala. Have no problem making appointments. Excellent Doctor takes time to talk with you.

Yes, there are now rheumatologists in The Villages. This man and also a woman, Dr. Stephanie Ingrim.

Welcome to The Villages by the way!

Word of mouth is the best way to find your primary. It depends on your insurance as well. You can make an app't with an independent insurance person (Villages Ins.)...all the town squares have an office.

My take on specialists in this rural part of Florida is that if your issues are numerous and/or rare/complicated this might not be the appropriate place to relocate (we are not a hotbed for the best physicians that you might find in a large metro or major university area)....but that's just my opinion.

Our primary care physician is also Dr. Martinez-Cruz. He is an Internist, and we really like him. Takes plenty of time with patients, and is very caring.
