I think that's what my daughter has. She's in her 40's. She had radio frequency waves that were supposed to kill the nerves. I has helped, she's not on hard meds anymore. There was nothing else to do, no surgery would help. Good luck.

Yes I have it now and for ever. Non-curable; but controllable(?) pain to some degree. That's why I'm awake at this moment instead of sleeping. Ibuprofen and cold packs directly to areas and as cold as you can stand it. Once you get the inflamation down there will be relief. I have a Neurologist that gives me a Lumbar injection once or twice/year. Good relief for awhile; but you can't have the shot too often, Steroids. I'm taking the ice pack off now and will try to get more sleep. I wish you the BEST!

I've had it in the L-3 & 5 for 5 years or better. That's why I'm up now; ice it and Ibuprofen for me. It's only controllable for me with direct ice pack until the inflamation goes down. My Neurologist, gives me a Lumbar Injection twice a year which really helps; but that's all! No more than twice because it's Steriods! Well Ice off and try to get back to sleep. I wish you well! I have stenosis along with bulging discs. I had a discectomy nearly 3 years ago on one disc that ruptured. Before that 2 steroid shots but that's a temporary fix at best. I suggest seeing Dr. Daniel Spurrior, whose an excellent neurosurgeon here in The Villages. IF surgery is indicated he does a non-evasive one that results in only a 2 week recovery. Back issues aren't fun nor should they be ignored.

If you have "lumber stenosis" that lasts longer that 4 hours, you should see your doctor ASAP.

Dr. Spurrier did my surgery for spinal stenosis. I had bone spurs. It was non-invasive and the recovery was in bed one week and gradually back to normal about 4 weeks. It didn't remove all of my pain, but it certainly helped. I had tried chiropractic, massage, meds, spinal injections before the surgery.

Hubby had the spinal stenosis. After many doctors, spinal injections, etc. we went to see Dr. James Ronzo. Dr. Euribe at the pain clinic wanted to do the electronic implant, but that would only allow cutting back on the paid meds, not eliminate the pain.

Dr. Ronzo of Gulf Coast Spine Institute looked at his x-rays and then sent him for an MRI. He said his was operable and did a laminectomy. This is a minimally invasive procedure. Hubby was fitted for a brace and wore it beginning immediately after surgery for several weeks. He had a nurse come in to check on him, do therapy, and change his dressing.

He has been free of back pain since his surgery in Feb. of 2011 and back on the golf course. He only takes 650 mg. arthritis generic for Tylenol (Publix brand) for his arthritic right knee now.

Dr. Ronzo or his partner, Dr. Bono, will only do surgery that is warranted. If it won't help, either one won't do it. I went to him and he told me that I had some arthritic changes occurring, but that it was not nearly anything for surgical intervention. He gave me some exercises to do, and I am pain-free as long as I am not too "busy" (lazy) to do them.

I had lumbar stenosis (L-4) and according to my doctor surgery was the only option. He operated and I felt much better. Unfortunately, the doctor retired so I cannot give you his name.

You should go see Dr Payman, of spine intervention specialist. He is an interventional pain management doctor who will be able to help you with injections. He has helped me and many of my friends to avoid surgery and get back on the golf course. He does injections which provide tremendous relief. His number is 352 391 1750.
