Go figure.

I am totally amazed at the number of people who still smoke cigarettes in "America's healthiest Hometown".

Excessive alcohol intake is quite a problem in many retirement communities. "It's five o'clock somewhere."

I think it means for some, that the brainwashing attempt by the government with misinformation such as the fake documentary 'Reefer Madness'...actually worked.

The real madness is how the contrarians love to beat up on an organic plant.
Welcome to The Prozac Nation, where Xanax fixes everything, eh?

It always makes me laugh when I see people quoting "Florida's Friendliest Hometown" and "America's Healthiest Hometown". Both of these are the registered trademarks of the Holding Company of The Villages, Inc. which basically means they are marketing tools. Apparently effective marketing tools too.

They are and there is nothing wrong with marketing to sell a fine product..

I don't think that is the point here.

The deal is done on Marijuana Dispensaries. They are here. Just don't **** on MY leg and tell me it is raining. They are only useful slightly for pain or neurological symptoms.

There are many addicted or dependent on opioids and alcohol in The Villages.

There are many that can take the medication and drink without dependency. When you over medicate or over drink and drive, that is the danger to the rest of us.

Although I'm not a user, I think that the prohibition on marijuana is a huge failure and should go they way of alcohol prohibition.

This may have been asked.....I didn't read through the whole thread.
Does anyone know the expense of marijuana? It's not covered by Medicare, so am wondering how expensive it might be.
I also assume that it is being sold in pill form? I can't imagine non smokers wanting to take up smoking.
I for one am very excited that this is being offered. There are a lot of folks that are unable to use opioids, but they need pain relief.

I'm not sure about Florida pricing yet, but here is link to a Dispensary in Illinois, which contains pricing information. I imagine prices should be pretty similar nation wide.

I do believe that street prices are less

I did some googling around after seeing news about the Medical Marijuana Awareness Day thing at the Waterfront yesterday. Here's what I found:

Here's a survey from one of the sponsor's site, it lists some of the qualifying conditions

From the same sponsor, a bunch of resource websites
And a website all about medical marijuana education

Cheers

I don't know who does what in The Villages but ...

The other day I was sitting on a bench at one of the Squares. Not feeling so well, I mentioned to the oldtimer sitting next to me "my joints are awfully stiff". Without missing a beat she said: "Well then you're rolling them too tight".

:a20: :a20: :a20: :a20: :a20: :a20:

(Ok I admit it, sometimes I crack myself up)

Sadly, I'm not seeing but a couple docs in or around TV. It won't do us much good to have the local dispensaries if we can't find a prescribing doctor. Hopefully, others will come on board

The really funny part about it is that she was absolutely right..........

You can get a recommendation for medical cannabis through the people I went through which was Doc MJ (Medical Marijuana Recommendations for Florida Residents | DocMJ). They do telemedicine visits, and currently, you just have to go in for one in-person appointment. The renewals are done automatically for the recommendations. Since medical cannabis is not covered by insurance, this is what I found to work the best. And I have bought from the new TruLieve location in The Villages as well.

after 2 MRI's at the VA...I've got acute spinal stenosis...pain management?
