I also have Plan F and agree “don’t change it” as above it is no longer available and if you change your plan you can never go back. It has been a life saver for me. Moved here healthy and after 4 years boom! My health started to fail. We would be in the poor house if not for this plan.

Medicare Supplement in the Villages
There are lots of wonderful Doctors in and around The Villages. You need to keep your Medicare and United Health Supplement. If you change to an advantage plan your traditional Medicare is taken away If you travel to other parts of the country and get sick many Drs don’t accept patients without traditional Medicare

Hang on to that plan!
The AARP United Healthcare Medicare Supplement Plan F is the best plan they offer so hang on to it. United Healthcare has now discontinued the F Plan, so if you drop it you will not be able to get it back again. It is widely accepted in this area and across the country. I was recently in the Middle East and I was also able to use it there. It may also be used around the world. You pay the first $500 and they cover everything after that including medical transport and evacuation. The Villages Health System will not take it (yet) for regular doctors visits but they will take it for all their Medical Specialist Doctors which are the very best.

IDK where these OLD post came from in 2007/2016, etc, but they are no longer true.
We are moving to FL in a few months from Indiana and have owned a home down therefor 20 years. TV wanted everyone to get the Advantage Insurance...thank goodness after less than a year, TV cancelled that idea (but ALOT of Villagers switched over to Advantage). When we have been down there for 4-5 months, we have NOT had any problems using Medicare and AARP healthcare. My husband was in the ICU for three days; another time Urgent Care for both of us; etc. EVERYTHING was paid by our providers. |

Yes, but you will not be able to use Villages Health Care system. Switch to FL Blue Medicare Advantage.

We did approach TV Health to talk about changing to a cheaper plan and even they told us not to give up our Plan J. Also, we have never had a problem finding a doctor, a specialist or hospital that does not take AARP United Health Care, plus it goes with you everywhere. Keep your F plan.

You have the best insurance. Don’t change anything. You will not have a problem finding doctors that will take you. Much better then those advantage plans.

Do NOT give up your regular medicare coverage with plan F, the best plan available. All of the best doctors accept this. Do you really want to belong to the Villages Health Plan , an HMO , payless, getless health plan?

Whether to stay with Plan F
We had the same 18 mos ago when we arrived. There are a plethora of primary care docs outside the Village Health Care system who accept Plan F. We would have stayed with it if it would not have increased to $550/mo for us. VHC accepts Plan F for any specialist. We changed to Medicare Advantage and pay $40 for specialist visit. We do not use VHC.

To avoid the hassle, buy trip insurance. Been there, done that, including evacuation. |

The biological drugs are so expensive , greater than 10 K per month list, that you are into the catastropic area the first month. Most Part D itplans will net out the same, about $600 per month after the first month. There are many grants available for these drugs. Check with your doctor. My wife's oral cancer drug lists at about $14,000 per month and we have not paid a cent yet for about a years scripts.
