Better solution
I use a plastic bottle from Neil-Med available at Walgreens, CVS & online. Lean over in the shower & gently squeeze the saline up one nostril & it comes out the other. You don't have to look at any gunk. Feels great. After 25 yrs of allergy shots, this is all I do. No more sinus infections. I take the bottle with me when I travel and flush out my sinuses after a flight. Used to get a sinus infection every time! The kit comes with premeasured packets of salt & soda. Just mix with distilled water. Tap water may introduce bacteria up your nose.

I have one and it works very well but when think of the remedies for a number of other health problems related to our bodily functions this one is far from the grossest at least in my opinion. 🤧🤮😪🙃

Yes, you are the only one! I'm an RN and it's a very healthy thing to do!

Light'n up........it's lighthearted thread. |
It may seem gross ( and scary, if you try it) but rinsing the nasal cavity washes out foreign bodies. In TV we have pollen and nasty construction dust in many areas. Perhaps you are lucky and don’t react to these. Great. For others who do, making the effort to rinse the allergens out means less or no medication. Pulmonary Specialist’s highly recommend it. Btw, I don’t like the netti, but I found an Neilmed option.
Kudos to you for sharing your reaction though. |
Yes, I have to agree with you on this one! Lol

I have used a Neti pot for over 20 years since I learned about them from a health food store owner. Doctors are familiar with them but do not recommend them. Instead they prescribe drugs. I quit using decongestants when I discovered the Neti pot. It is not difficult to use but some people are not able to get the hang of it. Every time I have a sinus issue I use it and it works wonders during hay fever season, and cold season to lesson the effects of sinus problems. And it is drug free. Just a little table salt and warm water. My current Dr. is in favor of its use and I only have to use an antihistamine in sever cases, which is seldom. The nasal irrigator while it may be gross to some is a great device for people who can't get the hang of a Neti pot.

Salt water up the hooter?
Soap and water up the Jacksy? Sound more like The Inquisition to me! |
Dr. D. Any advice on getting the ears cleaned out? I'm sure it must be wax build up in a spot that my Dr. can't see. Seem's to be only one person I have trouble hearing. That's Selectively and Intermittently.
The Irrigation Device works great but mine was replaced with Montelukast which stopped the stuffed up symptoms. It is gross. No link, its a fact. |
