It's very easy to measure your pupil distance yourself. Or, you can go to almost any optical store and they will measure it for free with a special machine they have.

COSTCO is great. Great selection & great price. They also take United HealthCare’s Villages Insurance Plans.

This is what TOTV does best. Decided on Peepers. Walked in this morning. Immediate, friendly, competent service. Reasonable price, will have glasses done this afternoon . Hope the final product is as good as the service.

Our optometrist told us to avoid "big box" stores for prescription glasses. Peepers may be a bit more expensive, but it is locally owned and operated. I love the care and attention that I receive from them. I have a frame from Oakley sunglasses (that I did not buy at Peepers), they custom made prescription sunglasses to fit these frames.

What optician do you use? I would like to get a prescription only.

I had Lange do mine. I also had them re-do what was a horrible eye exam at St Luke's .. They were amazed at how off the script that Lukes wrote me. Also be ware that many of the shops do not take insurance of any kind. My experience is that unless all you need are basic readers, the discount places .. either brick and mortar or internet, do not have the best technology lenses .. IMO

I have had friends buy from Zenni and were quite happy. I wear progressive and transition lenses. I know they do both but isnt it hard to measure for progressive lenses? Has anybody done it?

I think you mean optometrist or an ophthalmologist. An optometrist can write a prescription for glasses, but is not a medical doctor and cannot prescribe drugs. An opthalmologist is a medical doctor who can write a prescription for glasses and can also prescribe drugs. An optician is a person who can only measure you for frames and lenses, but cannot examine your eyes or write an eyeglass prescription.

Another vote for Hindsight. Sam's is no cheaper, and unless you happen to be there when there are no other vision customers, be prepared to wait. Never again.

I called Hindsight this morning, I'm going tomorrow. I don't have a written prescription, so I asked if they could determine my prescription by looking through my glasses. He said yes, and they can even find tune that with some other procedures.

Default Eyeglass Prescription at Sam's Club

I have gotten eyeglass prescriptions filled at Sam's Club two different ways. I have brought in frames and had updated lenses installed. And also picked out frames and lenses together from their offerings. They were accurately done, reasonably priced, and arrived on time.
