Another case of gossip before facts. Glad she wasn't named.

Regarding the original question, before seeing a surgeon, you might want to consider several less invasive alternatives first. As suggested Physical Therapy, or maybe Chiropractic.

Get a second opinion from another doctor and see what he says about seeing the surgeon. Usually your health plan will will pay for a send opinion. Please be careful when dealing with a back issue.

I'm just sayin'... she isn't a neurosurgeon, as was suggested, and she wasn't in possession of illegal drugs. Granted, I wouldn't want her as my doctor, but we have to be more careful of posting things before checking the facts. |

Best place to go.
I just came back from appt at U of F in Gainsville in the neurology dept. (teaching hospital) Dr. Burtis was the Dr. He spent an 1 1/2 hrs with me....this was the first appt. He is every knownledgable....however you may have to wait many months to see him....it's worth it. plus they have all the equipment (MRI) etc. better machines than Lake Imaging) to test you there.

Dr Oliver of Ocala Neurosurgery did my neck surgery about 5 yrs ago - diskectomy and fusion. Excellent results! No more pain - full range of motion.

My husband recently had very extensive back surgery by Dr. Hoh, a neurosurgeon at U of F in Gainesville. Very pleased with the results. He had a the surgery 7 years ago by a different Dr. And was never out of pain. Whoever you choose make sure back surgery is their speciality.
