We of course said we agreed, and left the office.

He did a great disservice to Patrick, who was the patient, because he didn't like me. They should have been up front and told us straight off they didn't want to take Patrick on as a new patient.

Patrick has a very low IQ and he really didn't understand any of it.

I am extremely upset to hear this. Now I have heard valid criticism from two people who I completely respect.

I am so sorry Connie. And I am so mad.

Cquick, to say this doctor's attitude and actions is disturbing is an understatement. I have no doubt you are better off without him. I say again, contact Dr. Deepak Tikku in Lady Lake. He is so caring and concerned. I am thankful we found him for my mother.

Neurologist - Dr. S

I too had an unpleasant visit with Dr. Smirnoff.
I went for my first appointment. I was no more than 5 minutes late and was told they had a policy of not seeing patients who were 5 minutes or more late for their appointments and I would have to reschedule with an appt. 2 months later. I told them how I felt about that and walked out.

Several days later they called they had an open spot two days later. Sound familiar cquick?
I kept the appt. and spent no more than 5 minutes with him - I had all xrays up to that time. Any way, he said he couldn't help me and referred me to Shands. I went to Shands and was told that because of my age, I would not be able to have the surgery I required. I am certain Dr. S knew and could have told me the same thing.
Pompous, unprofessional - just to name a few.

My opinion of Dr. Smirnoff

is not fit for a public forum. My husband was a patient there for several months. For the first appointment we arrived with, among other things, a neatly typed extremely accurate list of my husband's medications. My records of his medications have been accepted by every doctor that we have seen in recent years, including Mayo Clinic. The staff insisted that I write the list by hand onto their form - mind you - just copy the same information word for word. Being extremely weary of doctor's offices and forms, I very politely told them that I was not able to do that. I certainly did however complete the rest of their forms.

From then on, it was downhill all the way. We saw Dr. Smirnoff several times while he treated my husband for a disease that he clearly did not have. When I questioned him, I got impatience and disgust from him.

I posted our experiences earlier, then deleted it. This I'm not going to delete. I have left out quite a lot as it is not in my character to say on a public forum what I really think, but it should be pretty clear that I agree with the opinions expressed so far. I am also very grieved for the frustrations suffered by the patients and families posting on this forum. No one understand better than one who has experienced the same thing.

I don't know where to begin with how vicariously angry and upset I am. Connie, I completely agree he did a huge disservice to your son and you...he did a huge disservice to another person who could have used the appointment. He should have never given you an appointment if he was going to say that. Likely, his office didn't tell him until two minutes before you went in? If that was the case, he should have been bending over backwards to make you happy. Please tell me he did not charge you!
Now for the good news: From the posts on this thread, it should be clear that you would have wasted even more time if you had seen him. He is not the doctor you would ever want. So now with the help of the other people here, you can now go get a doctor that will actually be worthy of the title.

i feel your pain. that happened to my wife when i took her to his office. they said it wasn't in the computer. my wife showed her the appointment card that they gave her,but was told it didn't matter...it wasn't in the computer. we've had nothing but problems with this disorganized office, from dropped appointments to major scrw-ups in billing our insurance.

my first appointment had a 1 hr wait.(not bad) Smirnoff ordered MRI.When i returned to his office for a followup appt. he told me that there was nothing that he could do for me.But he did order the proper mri's ,and at this time i am satisfied with him.

I work in the medical field and I have been frustrated before trying to call a report to their office. I am also at the other end of the spectrum now because my husband had a stroke 3 weeks ago and called to make an appointment with him and they booked him for July 24th!! We are now waiting to get an appointment with Dr. Anette Nieves that my Dr. sent a referral to because she was frustrated at the length of time they are taking to see him. I read good reviews about Dr. Nieves on her website but would love to hear from someone that has gone to her.

Someone I know went there, too. Long waits. Office confusion. He seemed to order the correct tests, but it takes months between each appointment. You wait months for your dr. appointment, then months for your tests appointment, then months to see the doctor to get the results and he sends you for other testing, which takes several months too, then you wait several months to see him again for results. A year later you probably will not know any more than you did when you started. And don't bother to say anything to the doctor....he will just tell you that you are free to go some place else. Which probably what you should do.

Dr. Jay Rubin is thoughtful, and listens. His office is over on 441 just as you turn into Del Webb.

GoldenHurricane 06-19-2014 08:10 PM

I see Dr. Rubin as well and am very pleased.
